skid plate
Here is a picture of the ‘skid plate’ on my Tow’d when I took it apart. http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll300/manxrob/Meyers%20Towd/FrontSkidPlate.jpg I think it is the original described in the assembly instructions. I think it’s primary purpose was to keep the shift rod and wiring out of harms...

How Do You Keep Warm Driving Your Buggy???
I put a Stewart Warner gas heater in my Manx. The Stewart Warner heaters were sold through VW dealerships. They are real simple in design, with a coil spring thermistat for temperature control, a fan dedicated to moving the spent exhaust out of the cabin, and a warm air distribution fan. They were a...

Need information on "Bullet"-type front turn signa
Though not VW, I have always been partial to the look of 1960’s Lucas lights on Manx type buggies. They are about the same size as the VW bullets, but have a softer tip. http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll300/manxrob/Meyers%20Manx/BumperandBehives.jpg Mine were part of the original build. I think...

Is there a way to access the old Gallery photos?
The old Gallery had quite a library of great photos. Is it still being maintained? Can I add additional photos to my personal gallery?
Thanks!
Thanks!

There is a fine mesh screen in the bottom of the gas tank at the hose fitting that sometimes gets damaged or removed. If the tank isn't too rusted it will capture most of the flakes, though it will not filter out the small stuff, thats what the filter is for. If the tank is badly rusted the screen w...

Nelson, Thanks for performing the archeological data dig! This is quite fascinating to me. If I understanding the data correctly, there were a total of approximately 680 sequential, 4-digit tagged shells that left the company between July/August 1970 and the close of business in 1971. Using statist...
