Re: Big Bear 2015
Thanks. This is very good news. Since this is the only Manx Club event we attend, I would hate to miss it. This will be our 16th year in a row attending the Big Bear Bash.

Re: Big Bear 2015
Still no news on Big Bear 2015? It would be good to know if we are getting a rate at Northwoods Inn or not. Or should we make other plans?

Re: Manx Club Big Bear 2014
I finally got through processing all the photos we took in Big Bear last summer. There's not room to post them all here, there are 380+ of them, so here's a link to the Flickr photoset: https://www.flickr.com/photos/deadeyeba ... 916345369/
Enjoy!!

Baja Social Club Video?
It looks quite interesting, but it is not the same group that made Dust to Glory. I appears to be a similar story told from a bit of a different viewpoint. Not that that's a bad thing at all. It'll be interesting to see this group's take on the race and it's history

You'll really like the Big Bear rally, Mike. This year will be my 14th year in a row. And still running the same car.

Building a Manx verse buying a new Beetle in the 1960's
I built my buggy around 14 years ago, so 1998 or 1999. The Glitterbug Sportsman body and hardtop on the '57 pan cost $400. I kept the front end as is. Replaced the transaxle with a '68 style for about $300. The 1500 cc engine was around $800.00. Wiring harness was probably around $50. Had the wheels...

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for '63 VW DELUXE TRANSPO
Yikes!! $198,000.00? Who has that kind of money to spend? And then, after you buy it, what do you do with it? Do you just drive it, or do you put it in a vault? Wow.

Manual
If you can find a 1991 version of the Haynes VW Beetle & Karmann Gia 1954-1979 Manual you'll find a lot of great detailed information. The later version has been cut way down and is missing some very vital assembly details that you actually need for the kind of work we buggy folks do on our cars...

Wheel Balancer
That's well done. There's only one shop in my area that can balance wide five's and he's way over in Eagle Rock. Since it's not very convenient, I will often run my tires and wheels unbalanced. I haven't had any problem running them that way. I was told, and I agree, that tires these days are pretty...

Here a link to where I got mine.

Just don't forget to blow the dust out of them once in a while or you'll stall like I did on the Skyline Drive run.
