Thanks for all the replies guys, I think i have narrowed it down to Tangelo Orange -- large flake--. It's a real bright orange tangerine color, I'm thinkin stainless roll bar and polished aluminum shjould set this off pretty well. I haven't locked the rims in yet, once i see it together the rims wil...

Orange heavy metal flake

I am getting close to spraying the shell of my manx and was wondering if there was an original orange metal flake color that Manx used? The original shell was plain orange, and looked good -- but I'm thinking of going old school on this so it really shines in the sun! If there was not an original co...

Ok if I understand right they bolt under the pan or in between pan and body? And Mel I'm trying to understand the glassing a 2-3" strip on the sides -- is that along the bottom sides horizantally or the left and right vertically? Are there any pics/thread showing the process of installing these...

The pan was titled as a 58' -- but could be older i guess, is the longer torsion known to give a softer ride? I will need to turn these up a couple of splines as both sides are sagging a bit. Any need to replace these if i have them out and are they available since they are an older model?

One other question I was wondering was about the torsion sticking out on the rear. I know that IRS has this but I've never seen a swingaxle like this--- has someone added this later? and are all the cover plate bolt patterns the same and interchangeable?

I've decided to go with mildly rebuilt tranny and heavy side cover with a decent mill somwhere around a 1.9 litre motor. The more I think about it I don't see me in the dunes with this so I think i'll keep the bus parts for a rail at a later date-- ya never know... And Fubar -- I hear ya with the re...

mel-- why would i have to fibreglass the new dash onto the hood? I have an ABS unti right now that has a crack dead center on the top and i'm not sure if it is repairable. As far as trhe pods -- how do you attach these without drilling through the body, and also store things in them if they are bolt...

New dash panel??'s

I'm looking at replacing the dash panel is it has 2 cracks in it and was wondering about the oriog vs the hinged models. i expect it would be easier to acces the speedo and guages with the hinged but is there really that much difference?. And does the hinge work well considering the speedo cable is ...

Well we have started by pulling the body off, -- actually came off pretty easy. both pans will be replaced first, will pull the front end engine and tranny and sandblast and prime. From there I'm kicking around the idea of using 2*3 inch tubing on its edge where the new pan lips would be, thus creat...

A few more pics of this project starting point. I am at a crossroads with this buggy as I would like to do it right -- and I'm not sure what right is... I've got 2 new pans ready to be installed, but the more I look at it the body should come off to do the pan properly. Once the pan is bare and weld...

Thanks for all the input, I might actually lean towards replacing both sides of the pan now thatthink about, although the new frames look very nice and strong also with the built in lift. I'd like to get it on the road and drive it a little just to see which direction I want to take this. I don't wa...

Newbie-- wanting to make sure

Hi everyone -- I'm new to the forum, and looks like getting back into VW's after 18 years being away. A friend of mine found this buggy in a barn/garage on Pelee Island here in Ontario, Canada, and I ended up buying it from him last week. I would like top make sure that it is indeed a manx ( i think...
