lifting hood
Can someone describe what the hood would look like using the "lifting hood mold". Are there any pictures. I would very much like a "lifting hood" like others on this forum. I was thinking along the lines of "cutting" the original hood to get a look like that of the Cobr...

dirty gas tank
I have a lot of crud coming out of my gas tank, collecting in the inline filter. Pretty sure it's old rust. Any suggestions on cleaning the inside of the tank without removing it. Thanks, ron

A real Meyers Manx
I own a 1967 Manx that I purchased in 2008. Authenticated by Mr. Meyers. I just purchased a shell. Very good shape. Price was too good to pass up, $250.00. It looks "exactly" like my 1967. The same in every visible detail. I have looked at them side by side and I cannot see a difference. E...

I came up with another idea based on some of the info provided here. It involves trimming the shock tower a bit. Specifically cutting off the bump stop at the top. There is not a rubber bumper on mine so the stop itself is useless. Can I cut off the bump stop and not hurt the strength of the shock t...

Thanks Rob and everyone else for their input. I do not drive hard. My street racing days are long gone, I hope. The intended use is ocassional street drives on the weekend. Drive or tow it to a local show, etc. Nothing hard. Here is the latest. I got the MANX back from the welder yesterday. In my op...

As noted by MANXROB above and observed by me yesterday, the brace suggested would interfer with the spare tire well. Any other thoughts. ron,

frame fork
I have a swing axle Manx buggy. I just discovered the rear frame fork on the passenger side is bent and cracked. I am told that it can be repaired but I have to pull the engine. Does anyone have any experience with this repair. How it should be done. Welded with a jig??? Will it be "OK" af...

Speedometer upgrade
Well, I finally got my Manx on the road. Thanks to everyone on the FORUM for your starter help. Now I need to keep track of how fast I am going. I am replacing the dash instrument cluster with upgraded instruments. I really like the VDO Cockpit White Series. I emailed them and they were not any help...

6volt vs 12volt
Thanks, I will look at the autostick starter this weekend. Something else has me puzzeled. My buggy has a 12v battery. How can that work with a 6volt starter. Is there anything else I should be looking at. I also have an alternator w/regulator.

The short story is I need to replace the 6volt starter with a 12volt starter. The engine is installed. How do I remove the 6volt bushing without removing the engine?

battery well
I am a new Meyers Manx owner. Bought it in December. WOW, this thing is fun. Never owned a VW. The original builder did an OK job putting it together. Some things he did well, some not so well. It appears to be a 1966-1968 frame. Ball joint front end, swing axle rear. Someone along the line butchere...
