I would like to add my THANKS and well done to the new staff. I only received one newsletter in 2007, had no idea when to expect the next one and was a bit disappointed. I came close to not renewing this year but I did. Thanks again.

I am surprised that all-thread would stand up to the twisting. The two sides don't stay on the same parallel all the time unless the movement of the trailing arms isn't that great. I put a 3/8" torsion bar in my lower tube, use the grub screws on the two ends and a piece in the middle to allow ...

The only real way to soften the ride is to remove some of the leaves. The front suspension was setup for a full bodied car and you have removed lots of that weight, that is why the trailing arms are against the stops. If you look at a stock type 1 you will see the front trailing arms fairly well par...

ManxSRs in magazine

Hello all: In a magazine named "Hemmings Sports&Exotics (Jan 07)" there are pics and short article about 3 SRs on a car hauler, seen in the desert Southwest in 2006. There is a blue body, yellow body and a silver body, appearing mostly complete in the pics. Anyone know about them? Steve...

Hello Dave: The wingnut tightens the 'bail' that keeps the glass bowl tight against the top housing. To remove and clean the filter element you undo the wing nut and swing the bail out of the way. Needless to say, that isn't what you want to hear. Is there any rubber hose in the system? If so you ca...

Thanks a lot Kevin, I don't post on this site often and now everyone knows. I won't have my car out in the next few days, it is snowing hard and blowing here in Denver and low temps will be near zero for the next few days. Steve Goodman Denver, Colo. manx clone w/turbo Corvair #299

Hello Ross: Yes the Corvair is reverse turning, 164ci +.040, turbo w/tight exhaust housing. To desbuggy: The VW used a piece of tubing to attach the 'switch or valve' to a handle inside the car, I did the same, a piece of tubing with a large wingnut affair from a spare tire carrier welded to it. I c...

My Corvair turbo powered clone goes through fuel rather quickly too. I have the stock VW reserve petcock on the bottom of the tank to at least allow me some room to get to a station. The large wingnut to turn it is under the center of the dash. I also carry a 1 gal extra in the well behind the drive...

Hello all: There is at least one in the Denver area, NU-VINTAGE VW has had one for several years. Of course I don't have a phone number etc but if someone is interested I will find more info. It was the typical soft yellow color but don't know anything else about it. Steve Goodman manx clone w/turbo...

Hello all: If I can add to Don's evolution, from Bruce (BF Meyers Co), the entire works went to Karma Coachworks, then to Heartland Fibreglass in Bartlesville, Ok. From there everything went to Columbia, Md. I watched ads in the magazines for several months and then nothing. Someone who lives in Col...

I have a GRANT security wheel adapter on my clone, it unlocks with a key and a twist and then a cover piece is installed and locked back. Only a couple of inches of additional length. It has to be used with a GRANT wheel however. Regards, Steve

A guess about the mis alignment of the rear mount might be the difference between 60-63 and 61-64 w/air cond. The slot was further back on the A/C cars and also the 64 used a harmonic dampner thus the mount was further back also. Best, Steve
