Re: Manx sidewinder - type coating
I believe it was me Bud was referring too. Had my original Sidewinder coated by Jet-Hot after it was damaged at my mechanics. The mechanic repaired it, then sent it to them to be recoated. It looked good for about a year and a half then the J-ppes started to pop with a bit of surface rust. Despite m...

Re: Which Emblem?
That is incredible Bud! What kind of paint did you use, and what kind of detail brush? Do you mind if I attempt to copy you, or something close to it? Brian, I painted it many years ago, but the best I can remember is that after the epoxy and sanding I sprayed it with gloss black (rattle can). I th...

Re: First Build thread of 2015 and of the new Forum - Lorett
Thanks Dave! Yes, flake mixed in the clear at ratio I listed. 0.008 flake is pretty easy to spray through a gun. A high quality, high solids, catalyzed Acrylic Urethane Clear. Sherwinn Williams Automotive Clear and base coat paint. Same as what I used on my Puzzle Manx. I let the coat flash 10 minu...

Re: First Build thread of 2015 and of the new Forum - Lorett
Looks beautiful…. Few Questions: Did you mix the flake with the clear? What type of clear? How long does 14 coats of clear take? How much flash time between coats? Is that pictured finish the final coat that you are going to sand? Amazing what need to be done to replicate the final finish. Dave

Re: Bud's Manx Restoration
He has been the "Bud" of many jokes, and has been very good about it. If I get to make Buffalo, I want to be the first to shake his hand once he gets his Long Haul Pin. I am thinking Bud and Sue will be running up the coast from Wilmington into NY, then turn West to Buffalo. That will str...
