why no southern california runs
Why are there no runs in Southern California? the closest is Big Bear, you miss that one and its another year wait
the one a few years ago east of Julian was a lot of fun. and a lot of members showed up
Are there not enough members here or is it too far for most people
Thanks
Chuck

Swing Axle oil leak
The leak from the boot seams to be coming out the end of the boot closest to the wheel, I must not have it tight enough I will try rotating the boots and resealing and see if that helps. The leak at the seal--- I removed the axle seal cover and the seal was damaged in the lip, I either damaged it in...

Swing Axle oil leak
I do have the axle boot straight up, so I can change that. I will also check the vent,
When I added oil I removed the side plug and filled till it ran back out, which was the level in the vw book if I remember correctly
thank you both for the info

Swing Axle oil leak
I'm going insane. I have an oil leak again from the axle seals. I changed both seals 3 years ago and never drove the car up until last month. Just before I did I filled the trans with the trans fluid recommended and drove it around for a couple days then put it back on jack stands 2 days later. Now ...

front wheels wobbling
being a Chevy guy I am not going to say I know much about VW's so I am not sure, I don't seem to get any movement when I try moving the wheels up and down, but I do know all the boots are shot. So I guess the answer would be yes. I got way burnt out trying to finish my buggy by the big bear run. I ...

front wheels wobbling
I pulled the dampner and its shot. I can easily move the piston in and out. I am getting one tomorrow
I have this bad feeling this is not my only problem
Is it possible to replace the ball joints without removing everything from the car?

I thought about the wheels too, but it did it with another set of wheels. Also everything seems tight in the ball joints I was wondering about the steering damper too, with the car on a lift I can grab the front tire and very easily turn the front wheels thank you both for the quick response I will ...

front wheels wobbling
Its done, and it only took 10 years! Well almost. I still have a few bugs to work out. I got my tags and insurance and have been test driving it. What I have been finding is when I hit a rough section of the road the front tires start wobbling and continues, kinda scary I noticed this when I bought ...

Engine cage mounting points
I am trying my best to complete my buggy by July in time for the Big Bear run, but I am a little worried I will not be able to complete the remaining tasks and test to be certain it is reliable enough to do the run. My latest hurdle is the engine cage, I need to remove the two large bolts that the m...

Cannot get trans into 1st and 3rd
Ok this is just me being stupid, the problem wasn't the trans not going into gear, it was the cable clamp not holding the clutch cable in place, every time I pushed the clutch in it would slip a little more ahhhh! anyway readjusted the cable, tightened the clamp plus adding a second clamp and I was ...

Does a windshield frame have a clear coat on it?
I am trying to bring the windshield frame back to a presentable condition, but it seem to be very dull and I think there is a clear coat on it. I first tried to wet sand the frame but still there is a haze on it (different than a dullness from sanding) I read somewhere that you can use oven cleaner ...

Cannot get trans into 1st and 3rd
Wow,
I just get one problem fixed then another pops up what fun!
I now have the car running and the seats in, I tried to move the car and when I try to shift into 1st or 3rd I get a bad grinding, but reverse
2nd and 4th are fine
(I do have an aftermarket shifter and a new clutch cable)
