I twould bet the stock VW belt setup would break your hand in just about the same amount of time.

Looks like someone found a new way to use an old timing belt. I agree with the use of a pulley guard. This really shouldn't be out in the open. There is a reason timing belts, cam gears and crankshaft gears are kept out of reach and hidden behind protective covers.

My sand buggy has a 2.3 pinto with no covers on the timing belt. If someone were stupid enough to put their hand in it while it was running, I would have to assume they would grab the header pipe with their other hand just to round out their visit to the ER..... With the belt driving the cooling fan on a VW does slipage ever become an issue????It looks cool...Dangerous = cool.

I agree the Bullys aren't anymore dangerous than a stock pulley. They're both hazards. The Bullys look nice but they seem over priced compared to a BMD pulley. BMDs are cheaper, they have the timing degrees machined into them and come painted or plain. http://www.bmdpulleys.com/order.html

The "V" belt that normally drives the VW's cooling fan and generator/alternator does slip a bit but I think the slipping reduces some of the stress the crank would see everytime the enginr RPM's are increased. If it's properly set, slippage is not a problem.
