Fuel Tank Clearance

I`m going to buy a new VW fuel tank, but first I want to be sure the clearance is adequate. There is about 3 inches from the bottom of the tank, to the tie rod, with my old tank on my clone. I`m not sure how much is needed. How much room is there on a Manx ? For the record, I have a Safari body.

Wish I could help u, I bought a new tank for my "manx clone" and see about 5" from tank to frame head, The new tie rods I ordered last week from Dan's Performance, havent been shipped yet, I ordered these and a bunch of stuff, called today and they state that they are having prob with the shipping address to Puerto Rico so **** I have to wait more till I can figure out clearance with the lowered front, tie rods and tank in place.

3 inches should be plenty of room. You will see less vertical movement of the tie rod the closer you are to the steering box.

Thank you Jerry, I hated the thought of buying the new tank, and having the filler tube relocated, only to have problems.
