For those that couldn't make it, sorry you couldn't be there. We had a great time. Five buggies and two Bajas did the trip. Breakfast was nice as a couple people who didn't have thier buggies running yet also came. A good time was had by all :drinking: . Once we got running, we ALMOST got to be in a parade! Moorpark was having thier Country Days parade just as we were going through town (I bet if we sneaked in the back of the line, they would never know! Smile and waive everyone :hello: ). Now, where was I? Oh yes, A quick trip down curvey Grimes Canyon and we were in Filmore. Up 'A' Street to Good Enough Road, and the adventure begins. I haven't been up here for 20 years. I had forgotten how beautiful the Ventura County back country was. Once through the orchards, we got on to the old oil company roads which are now more dirt and less asphault. Surpintine around the pot holes for a smoother ride. After a few miles, even the asphault disappeared. Through a couple of (very minor) water crossings, climb, climb, climb. At one point, you could look back and see that in a short time we climbed well over a 1000'. Spectacular view! We got to a gate that, as promised, was not locked. Once passed there, you were becoming up close and personal with the mountains in the back country. It was obvious where the term "purple mountains majesty" came from. A little further and we came to the end of the road, into a beautiful meadow area with towering mountains all around. It was a trail head into the back country with a latrine, nothing more (some were expecting a full info center). A lone bench could be seen on the top of a nearby hill (for viewing purposes). We stopped to soak in all the beauty, and talk more buggies :D We didn't see any condors, but we did see a red tail hawk circling around. After a while, Dale had to get back for an appointment, so we decided to go down together. He took off, and I almost couldn't keep up with him. We came flying down the road, what a blast! At the gate, we took the leed the rest of the way home. Had a great time. By the time I had dropped off my passenger, and driven home, I logged 104 miles (including the round trip from Simi to Camarillo), and STILL got back in time for a late lunch.
