LED alternator dash light?
LED alternator dash light?
I'm thinking of using 5/32" dash indicator lights. I will be using them for alternator, Turn signal, hi beam, & oil pressure light. Will an LED "excite" the alternator into working? Is anyone else using these lights? Also the fuse block I have does not have a provision for splitting the battery from the ignition side. There is just one feed at top which energizes the fuse block. Is there any other way to be able to have it wired so some things like lights are on battery side and wipers on ignition side? I apologize for my stupidity when it comes to wiring but this is my first time wiring a whole car. Thanks, Gary
I tried to use a small l.e.d light to energize the alternator. I had to rev the engine up where it sounded like it wanted to explode to energize. I knew this was hopeless. I managed to find some small non-led lights to use as high-beam [ blue ], turn signal [ yellow ] and alternator [ red ]. It take almost no rpm's to get it energized. I ordered them from my local Peterbilt Trucks dealership from a company called Grand General Accessories.

You can use an LED as the Alt Wng light but you will need to add a resistor to the system so as it works correctly. If you let me know what size LED you are going to use I will let you know what to add.
