Aussie Buggy

Post by Graeme Dusting »

G'day All, First time Poster. Here is a picture of my Manx. I have known this car for over 30 years. It's (hopefully?) a genuine car that was originally red. Hope you like it. Regards, Graeme.

Thanks for the comments. I'll post more photo's once Iv'e worked out how to. This car was owned in the 80's and 90's by a friend of my brother. Originaly red, he then changed it to black. It had a nice "Big" engine in it at that stage with twin Weber's and all the good gear. Wheelie bars were fitted as he used to drag race it. Current engine is only a standard 1600cc which runs very well. One of the previous owners still has the original engine but is asking for too many $'s to sell at the moment. It was sold to a Porsche dealership in Melbourne Victoria in the early 90's and rebuilt, including the colour change to purple, for display purposes. I have kept track of it over the years and seen 3 different people own it. I finally own it after all this time and have plans to restore it back to how it was in the 70's. It has the optional hard top but I'm having a little trouble getting it to fit nicely. Does anyone remember how the these roofs were held in place? It fits into the groove around the front of the windscreen frame and has two bolts into the side of the roll bar. Is that how they were originally attached? The seats also have a small yellow Meyers Manx decal on the back of them. Lot's of chrome parts including the entire front end but all is starting to show it's age a bit. I will have everything replated during the rebuild. I am enjoying driving it at the moment so will hold off on the rebuild for awhile. The Bobcat style extractor needs replacing (works well but a bit rusty) and I think an original "Meyers Sidewinder" with ceramic coating will be nice once I find a way to get one to Australia. I Hope you all won't mind if I ask a few questions along the way? And thanks again for your comments. Cheers, Graeme.

Front tyres are Pirelli P7's, 225/50 15 and rears are Sumitomo HTR 2000's,295/50 15's. The rims I'm told are "Centerlines" although the two halves are bolted together and I thought Centerlines were always rivited so I'm not 100% sure on that. Hope that helps? Regards, Graeme.
