I'm Furious!!!
DrMike----I have never owned a buggy or a Volkswagen before and I am trying to restore one now. It is because of people like you, and others like you, that I joined the club. Meet new friends and To reap the knowledge of people with more of it about buggy's than myself. I know you probably don't care to hear about my old grandmother but I'd like to tell you about her. She was a woman from the deep south. She never talked a lot but when she spoke you got her message. She spoke in quotes and phrasies for the most part and I would like to tell you some of them because I think some of them may apply here. I remember " some people have something to say about everything, and everything they say is about nothing." If you read some other post on here you will find that to be true. One of my favorites was "son you will find one on every horse." And another is "some people live and learn, and others just live." Apply these quotes to the source and continue to help people like me. Please don't let one horse stop you from being a friend to others.
O.K. I guess I was wrong. DrMike, I apologize for upsetting you. I didnt think It was proper to use this site as a medum for making money. I come from a state of mind where if someone needs something, you give it to them, and vise-versa. I figured since buggies are old school and VW based (Peace & Love), we would all be in this together for the good of the cause. I personally wouldnt try to make money from anyone on this site. I have given and have been given many items when the need arose. I try to help here whenever I can. I guess there is no getting around the fact that times have changed and money talks...
"If you get something for nothing, it has no value... " That phrase bothers me. Over at the other side, we have Random Acts of Kindness, where things are given away "just for fun". No strings attached. To say that something you got for nothing has no value means that the person giving something away actually wants to get something out of the deal. If you don't pay for something, it's worthless. I know that's not what you mean, but it can sound that way. I, like you, have given away a number of things, only to have even more good stuff come back my way in return. That's how karma works. I just found your quote to be a little out of context with your posts. I will get off my soapbox now.
I was just trying to compose something along those lines Lee but you beat me to it. I'd certainly think twice about donating any of my treasure trove of crap to Wuzubug's cause if I knew he wouldn't appreciate it and would count it as worthless.

"Random acts of kindness, senseless acts of beauty"... I have that bumper sticker on my truck. I just got back from looking at Christmas lights. On the way there is a $1.00 toll. I paid for the car behind me even though I didnt know who it was. Then I sped off before they could see who I was... I had that happen to me one day. I cant expalin how that made me feel. Now I do it often.
I just got back from looking at Christmas lights. On the way there is a $1.00 toll. I paid for the car behind me even though I didnt know who it was. Then I sped off before they could see who I was...
So, in summary, you think you're BETTER than the car behind you, right? You're implying that they couldn't pay themselves? What a jerk!

Dr Mike says whoa!
Thanks for all of the support, folks....I fully accept Wuzabug's (Scott) apology, and feel that as I was misunderstood, so maybe was he. I think down inside he was truly trying to keep an idealistic state going here, but in his enthusiasm, he didn't look deep enough into my motives, which really weren't as dark as implicated. Yes, I'm a Newbie to the Manx world, but I'm an Old time desert person, having started with junk yard Hondas, with 3 inches of travel on a good day...does anyone remember those hot miserable kidney belts...? How about trying to find top dead center on that "thumper" when you're hanging by a thread on the side of Pinon mountain....don't know how I got to be 60. Well, the truth is, I got my Manx, "Pitiful" out of a field that it had been sitting in for a long time. I'd built a lot of Corvair engines for customer's cars, but now I decided to get this little fellow just so I'd have a test bed for new engines. Well, I drove it and fell in love with it...now I'm trying to upgrade slowly to a full restoration. Mike Mazzone and I just finished the Chromoly 6 pt. cage, and somehow I managed to wedge those new seats in place...whew! I had a bit of a complex going when I first joined the Forum here. I didn't really know much about my clone and didn't want to sound stupid, so I tossed out what I knew, and hoped to engage some of you in a Corvair conversation. Unfortunately that didn't happen until I moved over to the RBC group. I can't thank them enough for all of the help the've offered...hopefully my knowledge will reciprocate their kindness. All is forgiven Scott...I hope to meet you face to face someday and we will laugh at this "Tempest in a Teapot"...just remembet that we all have something to offer, even a "One Trick Pony" like me... Have a great Holiday season, and let's all get back to this little car we all love so much..... Mike McCrae "Corvairs Only"
