You'd have more fun with this; it was you asking about Victory bikes wasn't it Mel? I saw a couple for sale outside a little lawnmower and tool store in Middlewich Cheshire the other day. Only had my phone so sorry about the crappy pic...
?10,500 to you sir!!!!

Yup, it was me asking a while back,, looks a cool bike Dave, not sure how your meant to mow the lawn with it,, but I would love to give it a try
Wonder what the HD guys think of em? BTW, Allen,,,,, police caught ( after a few weeks hunting em) the guys in UK who shot dead the HA fella on his Harley,,,, I know you got caught up in all the traffic hold ups here in UK that day.

Right, the time has come to get this thing off the back burner!!. Bit of a long shot maybe, but I'm trying to find out how Hadleys did the pedal set up on these veeps. The thing was RHD when I got it and had been really got at, but now going LHD thanks to Nelson mailing me the early LHD set. From all the pics I've seen in mags I cant quite make out how the pedals come through the tub without either having a big hole in the floor or redesigning the original pressings, seems the pedal box was designed to be mounted on the chassis and I can see where that would need to go,, but cant make out if the large metal transmission cover inside the jeep was redesigned by Hadley to take the VW set up, or if the orignal pedals were adapted to suit the jeep floor, because the VW / Jeep thing don't seem to match up very well together. Like I say, its a long shot, but if anyone reading this can help with a few close up snap shots of an original LHD Hadley veep pedal area (without carpets) I would really appreciate it. mel... sales@manxbuggies.co.uk ps, Bob A if your reading this,,,, I mailed all of those guys that had Veeps for sale on the Samba (that you mailed me the links for) requesting some snap shots, but never got any replies..... Maybe they just don't like us Limeys!!!

Well, thanks again to my ol buddy Bob I reckon it could be sorted. Seems Hadley used a custom made gas pedal and not the VW one, but the VW brake & clutch pedals remain standard. The gas pedal was the part confusing me most since I could not see how that would of worked without re-shaping the jeep floor. Mine had been done RHD, but it did have a separate custom gas pedal which now seems could have been part of the original kit,,, just glad I kept that old gas pedal now!!. Hey Dave, do you ever think we got fobbed off with the RHD type 1 pedal set up??,,,,, I do, when you compare the two together, those RHD ones seem like a right bloody Heath Robinson afterthought affair, there must have been a better way I reckon. Still, I'm joining you now and putting the pedals on the wrong side!!
Mel, Did you see the Hadley Veep on here? Its a very nice job. It reminds me of the Jeeps that Henry Kaiser used to rent in Honolulu when I was a kid. They were everywhere. http://www.oldbug.com/theveep.htm http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3B/Sibling ... yGala.html http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3B/Photos/ ... lu1959.JPG

Thanks for the pics Nelson, they must have been good days, renting Jeeps like that. I noticed that Veep (the one for sale) also has the tools indents (for axe & shovel) like mine, which makes me wonder if they were all military bodies Hadley used, because I'm sure the CJ 2 & 3's would not have had them. Funny thing is, I've been working on mine today, which is a very rare occurrence indeed!!... Looking like its going to need a body lift now, because I don't think the MB 16'' bar grip tires are going to have enough clearance,, cant think if I said before, but I have some 16'' landrover rims with wide 5 VW centers.
Hey Mel... 2 of the 3 that I helped build had the CJ2/3 style bodys that were smooth on the sides. One of them had a tailgate & the other did not. The military style body had the tool indents, no tailgate & it had several grab handles on it. Yet, it had a CJ 2 front grill. All 3 had the squared off divided windshield. I've seen a good number of Veeps & I think Hadley bought whatever style of body was readily available. I never saw any of them myself, but a couple friends swear they saw a "stainless steel" Veep & a couple aluminum ones!

I did hear a while back that MD Juan in the Philippines were making stainless steel body tubs, but like you, I've never seen one. Hey Mike, I quite like the idea of a capstan winch after seeing this cool pic > http://www.willys-mb.co.uk/images/jeep- ... jeep-1.jpg
http://www.ewillys.com/?page_id=6175 http://jewelstainlessjeep.com/home
Nice find Nelson, the fenders and grill on my veep were from the Philippines, seems they have all the old MB pressings.
