The 4 luggers???

Post by Gene-C »

I got a 72 chasis, an it has the 4 lug rims, im going to need a very wide rim to fill the fender to make it look right, am i better off to get adapters to convert it to a 5 lug, or does somebody sell a good rim that matches the pattern. im guessing its going to be a 10" wide rim, with 50 series tires. and i definatly want to go polished aluminum. thanks in advance. and give me links please!!!

I know these guys can meet your needs, but they don't have every style of wheel. They have both 4 lug and 5 lug, so look at the pics carefully. For exact sizes, you'd be best to call them. Custom & Commercial Wheel Click on "Products" and the first page that comes up is the "VW Wheels" page. If you click on "Steel Wheels", a few more come up. Their usual finishes are either "chrome" or "white powdercoat". I visited the shop and they made some up for me right on the spot, without any finish, "raw steel". Then I had them powdercoated the color I wanted.

You can stay with the 4lug or have them redrilled to 5-130mm and use Porsche wheels. You can buy blank drums and have them drilled to any pattern you want. SoCal Imports sell them and others. Look in Dune Buggies & Hot VWs at the advertisements.

You can buy Centerlines, Ercos, or Mitchell wheels in a ton of widths and backspacing that fit the original VW 4 lug pattern. There are also a bunch of "Tuner" style wheels out there that will bolt on.

Pacific customs UNLTD, Corona, Ca. in Hot VW shows Centerline rims, 4 lug, 15 x 81/2 for $185 & up ea. and plenty of other wheel options. Also MooreParts source, Anaheim, Ca. has aluminum wheels @ $140 and up ea. Depends where you are located, I am sure you can find some, somewhere. :2cents: Jimbo
