I have read conflicting opinions on this. Some experts say to always start with a new case, dont use a alingnd bored case. Yet others say to align bore even a new case. I think objections are probably due to poor quality jobs, if you have a good machine shop, such as Rimco, in Santa Ana, California, do your job, it will be fine. Some cases are too far gone, and shouldnt be bothered with. Rimco can check your case and let you know. I run a 1914 built on a used, align bored case, have run for 3 years, sometimes hard, with no issues.

im building the same size motor, 0.20-0.40 oversize bore, I hear they can go as high as 0.80 seems like you would get more bearing surface depth with a thicker bearing?

Typically if the case needs to be line bored because of overheating, it's not a good idea to use it. If the case needs line boring because the bearing saddles are a little pounded, it should be fine.
