Shift Rod Coupler cover

Does anyone know where I can find the cover that goes over the hole by the shift rod coupler on a type 1? I have looked on ebay and The samba and I cant come across one. any info would be great. thanks

I can always find stuff like that in the junkyard. If you don't have any junk yards in your area, try

make one out of sheetmetal or try a wrecking yard

You know, I haven't seen them either. I'm planning on making one out of 16 ga. mild steel, some nutzerts, pan head screws, a little black paint, and done. If that's not your option, I might be near a VW junk yard next week (about 30 miles from my house), I'll ask and see what they have. Might be good to have a daytime contact phone number for you (send me an email with it) and I can call you from the junk yard and tell you the price if they have one. I wouldn't mind purchasing it for you and you can reimburse me later. Let me know if that's the way you'd like to go.
