Head porting...does this look safe???

Check out how much material in gone from the valve guide area. Are these heads safe to use?? DO you have to trim the valve guide too or do they just stick down into the bowl?? I just thought it was interesting to see a cross section like this and thought I would get your opinions on it. thanks

If it's a race car you want all the flow you can get so cut the guides, but race engines are constantly disassembled and rebuilt. If it's a driver you can get away with cutting the guide a little but it still increases the chance of the guide loosening in the head. The less guide the quicker the guide will wear. Everything you do to increase the performance of an engine will reduce the longevity of the engine. Some more then others.
