A friend of mine said he has seen an adaptor to fit a link pin beam on a ball joint pan...or vise versa. It`s an aluminum piece that bolts onto the frame head, and the beam bolts onto it. Only problem is, it extends the beam forward 3 inches. Not sure it would clear a buggy fender. Has anybody seen this item anyplace?

Haven't seen it. If it extended the beam forward you could get longer trailing arm and have more travel as well as moving the wheels back towards where they should be. Just a thought.

personaly I would just swap the framehead or get the frontend you need just my :2cents:

I would be afraid the extra leverage would be too much for the frame head without some sort of beam support, like tying to a rollcage.

The Maniac has told me about a device like that, maybe once made by CB Performance (memory fails sometimes), and then only a few of them, that extended the beam by only 1.5" forward. He called several friends in the valley, but no one could lay their hands on one of them. Seems like it could be done, however, you'd probably want some engineering expertise, instead of just trying to mexineer it together. Still the replacement of a frame head is a proven and better solution, without the change in wheelbase for the FG body. My thoughts on my 2nd buggy (this one for dirt roads) were when shortening a pan to simply use the front half from a link pin pan and the back half from an IRS pan (which I've got), mate them together and do some medium length suspension travel components, but I haven't found a low cost or free link pin pan to use yet (still looking).

Actually, I already have a link pin beam. I was thinking of putting on a Karmann Ghia beam with disk brakes.

I have seen them advertised in magazines many years ago. I din't know how well they worked or if they are still available.
