There is a great Manx for sale on the Samba:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... ?id=332585 I remember this being for sale on Ebay about 5 years ago and I believe it sold for around 18K. The claim of it being the oldest or the second most sought after could be questioned. Good history in a nice vintage buggy.

I genuinely hope he gets $25K. I remember it for sale a few years ago also. I do think its real bad manners to critique another person's buggy. However, when they say "the best original early Manx", and "Totally original equipment from top to bottom, exactly as it was built in the 60's", that invites discussion. It has the original stainless steel rear license mounting plate. It does look like it may have an original Meyers Manx towbar, which attached to the welded on brackets of the front bumper. The front and rear bumpers and skidplate appear to be Meyers. I see it has a cast metal Manx SR front emblem. I think there was some discussion about the gas pedal. I don't believe the pedal was originally made/sold by B.F. Meyers & Co. I believe I recall it was something somebody had made up themselves, using an SR emblem. It has a new sidewinder exhaust. The original sidewinders had the glass pack muffler welded on. The headlights should be Deitz 820s but I don't see any lettering on the top of the shells. You can't see in the pictures whether it has its original ABS dash or a new fiberglass one. It has a Tri-Phase Junior air cleaner which was an original period buggy accessory. I believe the outside mirror is a GT. Meyers sold Sebring mirrors. The steering brake levers and shift lever aren't Meyers. Blue dots have been added to the taillight lenses. I believe 1973 was the first year for alternators

I wasn't trying to be critial of the buggy, just the statement: OK...perhaps the Holy Grail would be Bruce Meyer's "Old Red" but this one has got to be a close second That buggy is pretty low on my all time top 10 favorites..........
