Hi all, as the title says I'm looking to put an automatic into my manx. Yes I know this a big job but it can be done (there are 3 that I've heard about here in Oz). Just doing my planning and research for now and was wondering if anyone has any photos of this type of conversion. Cheers mackaymanx

Just a thought but would you be best using the Type 3's floorpan? I know they can be shortened the same as Type 1's and fitted with Bug floorpans, as I have an article in a v. old Hot VWs about using them under Buggies. Brakes and front suspension are all better too.

A type 3 pan is not an option for me, and the automatic pan is of no advantage as it has no frame horns, which is what I have to reposition on the type 1 pan to get the transmission to fit.

Makaymanx, As we speek I'm having Dave Barrett in Fresno Ca. build me a special frame for the T3 auto. I am using the rear torsion assembly from the T3 and he is fabracating the horns to support it. Also Bill Loften in Colorado is running a T3 auto as well. Here is his email address, I'm sure he will help you. There is also a shop in Texas that is building auto buggy's. Look up the Texas Manx Club. Hope this helps. Bob whl@frii.com (Bill Loften)
