C'mon guys, talk about your Manxter builds. I can't be the only one that is building one. I wonder what the response was like for Meyers Inc from the articles that ran in Car & driver and Road & Track? Olli

Well after we went out to see the Manxter, my wife was still not sure we needed one. But I think the Car and Driver article made her see the light. Or it could have been me doing a lot of begging and "please" . I am pretty sure I will be doing alot of things she wants to do for a while. Our Manxter was picked up last week and should be here early next week. Then the fun will start. I still am looking for a donor. So if anyone in North Texas knows of one give me a call. I ,hope to have some pictures of the saga as we go. By the way, Anyone going the Eureka Springs, Arkansas VW show next weekend? August 25-27th Gary and Annie

I have been taking my Manx (standard Manx) to alot of cruise nights the last 3 years. I have noticed since the C&D article there are alot more so called "Manx experts" telling me the history of the dune buggy. I enjoy doing my Paul Harvey impersonation and telling them the "rest of the story".

Olli - when I saw your post titled "too quiet", I was expecting a comment about how quiet your new "WRX" motor with no muffler was. This would mean it was running and major progress was made. I am sure you are working on it. Can't wait to see it. Tom

Tom, Far,far from running. I am doing bodywork and paint now. The underside of the body is now painted. It is sprayed in Black Pearl and the wheel well areas were first sprayed with a 3M rubber chip gaurd. I also flattened the front bulkhead by removing the "bump" and filling in the valley that is below the steering column. I also was away all of last week attending a House of Kolor training class. That took a big chunk of my build time away. Image

Nice work. It no longer looks like Kathleen's car (white metalflake with a blue bottom). For those who don't know the story - it took Bruce 3 tries to make Kathleen's (#16) body. There were stains in the jell coat. Olli got one of the bodies as a "painter". I don't know what happened to the other one. Hopefully it got painted also and she can have her "one of a kind". Tom
