Washington (USA) Buggy Scene
Please Welcome your local Limey immigrants!! >> My buddy Charlie is off to Washington on Monday with his family to work for one year, he has a Manx type & a 56 oval here in UK that he's building but said rather than ship his RHD buggy project out he plans to buy one out there & maybe ship it back on his return. So what are buggy things like in that part of USA?. Funny thing was,, when he told me of his plans to ship his buggy out & finish the build in USA, I replied ''I thought you was only planning a one year stay!'' not that I can shout much after my slow Veep build. Seriously though guys, he's a bloody good ol chap and used to get on this forum a few years back, so if ya hear of a nice buggy for sale in that area or know of a local buggy meet, just let me know and I'll pass the details on.
DC or Washington State?
Sorry, I should have said DC, us limeys sometimes forget how vast USA is I guess the state must be as far away from DC as we are. Hope to be catching with Charlie on thursday to do a little work & maybe get his buggy tub bolted down so I'll know the exact location by then.

I'm about two hours north in Philadelphia. There are better places in the USA to enjoy buggies but we make do. A buggy could be purchased off Ebay or Craigslist and shipped with relative ease. There is a pretty good show within a short distance that is in Manassa VA. The new Hot VW's has some coverage of the Memorial Day show. There is also one on Labor Day. Have him log on and introduce himself. He is at least centrally located on the East Coast.
Hey Dave, it cant be no worse than in UK,, but my friend Charlie wouldn't know about that,,, as he always seems to sell his buggy projects before they are cooked up. Thanks for the info, will pass it on & maybe you will get to meet up with Charlie some place soon. He's already mailed me an ebay link to a buggy for sale in USA, so Im guessing he's getting hungry for one, and he aint even departed UK yet,,,,,, I know for sure his wife knows nothing about these plans.
