Buggy of the month
Any chance we could start up the Buggy of the Month again. I'm sure there are lots of new buggies that have been built since Feb. of 08. I think alot of us would love to see the new builds from around the world. Thanks.

Mark, having 5 buggies up at a time and have the membership vote on the winner and then the winner recieve the following years membership for free seems like a pretty fair way to go don't really see any reason to change it unless someone else has a different idea. I do understand there may not be enough entries all the time, maybe do it for 6 mo. and then skip 6 mo. to keep the interest up. but if there is enough interest from the members lets give it another shot. Maybe start a poll to see if it will fly.

Yes, it might be a great way to attract new members that will bring new excitement, new posts and questions from new members, new ideas and a shot of adrenilne to the site. I remember when i first found the Manx club site, i was just starting to get interested in buggies. I asked a ton of questions and EVERYONE on this site was sooo helpful, it's what got me to by my buggy and i have been a member ever since. I also think once a new member goes on a run they will be hooked for a long time especially when they meet all the great people in person and get to put a face to the names. I also love talking to other buggy owners all over the world. Anything to help get back to the days when the site was so active with posts. I could be wrong but what could it hurt. I also think we as members should participate in public shows such as the fontana vw show and vw classic to show support.
If you guys are having a hard time getting 5 entries every month to continue our BOTM. Don't make it a competition. Just put up one buggy a month. That's 12 a year. I do not believe you couldn't get 12 paid members who wouldn't love to have their buggy featured on our web site for one month. Why not start with you lowest membership number, e-mail them and ask for some great shots of their FDB. Everyone wants to see how everybody else has built or is currently building their buggy. We need to reinvent this site.

Sadly,I don't honestly think this site is busy enough to support a BOTM contest any more. I thought there was a plan to open part of the site up to non-members again now the forum has split with Meyers Manx Inc. or is my memory playing tricks? I think there needs to be a great increase in site traffic before there'd be enough interest.

Botm
I like the idea of having one buggy a month represented, with their pixs and story of the build, etc... Nice idea! Dennis
It looks like the BOTM is dependant on the number of members voting and the amount of entries. I'd love to submit my buggy for the contest if there was need for an additional entry. I think there are enough members here that would like to do so as well. However, I think there may be a falling off of entries once the initial batch is gone. To over come this any unused entries could be carried over to another month. Brainstorming session... If there isn't enough entries then make it a bi-monthly thing. If there isn't enough for that then quarterly. Have the BOTM flow with the amount of entries. Add the BOTM to the Manx Mania newsletter to reach all the members. Sure it may take a little longer but you'd sure get more responses. Just some thoughts...

Ok ... So far I'm hearing:
- Quarterly is ok
- Theme is ok, include a build quarter
- Add it to the Mania
- open viewing,
- restrict voting to the membership
- ? ? ? keep your ideas comming
