Manx Kick Out

Post by manxfwin »

It seems a real shame that this is"THE Manx Website" and we end up getting our info about the new Manx from Samba.Does anyone pay any attention to this site anymore? It would seem logical for the info to be posted here first with pics,prices,etc....since we all pay our dues and should be entitled to some exclusive info.

Not wanting to add fuel to the fire but one may be lead to a certain confusion about the affeliation when being a Manx Club member give access to both: This forum & discount to the Manx store on the http://www.meyersmanx.com website. I for one, also found it strange that we would 1st see pictures on an external forum and I fully followed and understand the seperation of this forum from the The Meyers Manx website. It may help everyone to clarify the association between the two entity and where/what our membership is supporting.

Joe's response to Dave saddened me, how can he not take it 'personal' when he goes on to describe his comments as 'juvenile and self centered'. Dave just stated his opinion and I don't belive he deserved to get flamed like that. I feel sorry I started this thread now, but I must admit that I too felt a little bit cheated getting hold of what I consider to be 'second-hand news'. Joe, I realise we all have bad days but I recon you owe Dave an apology...I'm just off the put my 'big boys' Nomex pants on...

I normally make it rule not to participate in threads like these, but I?m going to make an exception this time. Joe I think you were completely off base in your comments to Dave B. and you should apologize. Like Vincent, I am completely informed and aware of the separation of this club and Meyers Manx. However, one would think that this club would have an advantage over the other clubs in all things Manx since many of the board members have a personal connection to the Meyers. Call it an ?insiders? advantage if you will. If I not mistaken, aren?t Bruce and Winnie still board members in THIS club?! Why wouldn?t the club take advantage of the relationship with Bruce and Winnie and leverage it to promote the club? What a scoop this club missed out on by not having a little write up and pictures of the Kick Out ready to post on the day of the Knott?s show. These are opportunities to promote this site and generate interest (which is badly needed). I will admit that I expressed my own disappointment and frustration to a friend yesterday (just like Dave did publicly) in that I had to read about the Kick Out on the Samba. Dave B., thank you expressing your opinion. I appreciated it and as you can see by these responses it was shared. Thanks. I feel better now. Joe it's your turn. Bud

I also don't participate in these types of threads but i have to say that i very much agree with Bud and Dave and your flaming of Dave was uncalled for and it would have been nice to get some info on a new design from Bruce after all we do support everything Manx and maybe it could help out the website participation a little by giving us more to talk about. Hopefully we can learn from this. I do think most of the members here would agree we would like to see all the great things that bruce is designing and for it to come out here on this website. I really don't understand the/your separatist attitude. I have to stop now i'm really getting pissed off.

While I agree, it would have been nice to post something up of the Kick Out prior to the unveiling, I don't think anyone involved had a chance to do that. I don't want to talk for Bruce and Winnie, but since I built the Kick Out for them, I know how busy they have been. It has been a scamble to get this car together and Bruce is still working on getting the SS version parts together. I don't like to get involved in internet bickering either, so lets get this thread back to the Kick Out. I have a lot of pictures of the build that I will try to get up. If anyone has questions about it I will answer them as best as I can.

You have first hand knowledge and pictures that others don't have. By posting that information here, you will generate interest and traffic on this site. Even the introduction of the SS version that everyone is talking about is another opportunity being presented to this club (if only someone will capitalize on it). I believe I read on the "other site" that some members of the Manx Club are helping with build/introduction of the SS at Carlisle. I'm sure there are insider picts being taken along the build path. So here is a idea: why not have the pictures and a little story ready to post just after Bruce introduces the SS and before the general public has a chance to post from Carlisle? Just a thought. Bud

Jon, Thanks for posting the pictures. Hopefully you weren't just doing it for me :-) I do have a few questions now that I've seen the tub. 1) Other then the tail mods and the removal of the headlight mounts from the fenders, is the tub the same shape and size as the Manx? 2) if the size is the same, will some of the accessories fit a Manx? Like the new side pods, the panel with the headrests, and possibly the opening hood? 3) will the tub allow both swing and IRS? I can now see how the spare tire well allows for a tire to be laid flat. Thanks again for posting them here. Bud

Well, I really posting the pictures for everybody. The tub fits on the same length shorten pan (14 1/2"), but there are other small changes to it. The front is more like a Manxter from the windshield forward with the exception of the dimples in the hood for the headlights and a cowl piece at the windshield. I'm not sure if you could adapt the opening hood to an existing body without modifying the gas tank area. The rear fenders are wider and the body in that area has been reshaped, so I'm not sure if the new sidepods would fit an existing body. I do know that Bruce is planning for the new rear deck/headrest piece to fit the earlier cars. The tub will fit both IRS and Swing Axle suspensions. I don't know all the answers, but I will try answer them as best as I can.

I've got some pics of what I presume was the prototype SS hood c/w curved screen etc. that I took when I was at B&W's in Feb. but I guess Bruce wouldn't want them published until the production one's released... Thanks for the build up shots Jon.
