Looks like the real deal,,Also looks like a lot of work,,,But thats the best kind..When is Bruce going to look at it ??

I'm not sure...The last time I sent the pictures. They lost them. But judging by the body and the corogated tubes along the side. I think it's an early one. I picked it up a couple of years ago for $700. It's in pretty raw condition. But I guess building it the way you want is the fun of it.

YOU'VE GOT ONE HECK OF A JOB AHEAD OF YOU......... Your photos are really good in figuring out if it's a TRUE MANX PHOTO ONE 1. The hood lines seem right on for a Manx 2. Fender shape is right PHOTO TWO 1. Rollbar brackets are correct, both uppers and lowers 2. Battery box is the right shape 3. Spare tire well has the right bumps and kickouts for a Manx 4. It's an early swing axle body 5. Even the inner wheel wells look right inside PHOTO THREE 1. Dash is the right shape. 2. Even the thicker glass under the steering shaft looks right on. 3. Is the dash ABS plastic or fiberglass? 4. Is the dash screwed to the hood or is the dash glassed to the hood? PHOTO FOUR 1. The rear end also looks true for a Manx. That's a great find.... It looks like a REAL Manx to me.... Hope Bruce gives his seal of approval to it.....

The dash is ABS and is screwed to the hood.....I sure hope Bruce thinks it's the real deal. That'll determine how far I want to restore this one.

I agree with the others. I can't see a single thing which would indicate it is anything other than an authentic Manx. Lee

It looks like the real deal to me, everything screams Meyer Manx except the fact that it's never had a tag or any badges or if it's an early one, hood decal fitted. Maybe it's one of the ones that 'slipped out of the back door' of the factory weekend afternoons??? Either way, resore it sympathetically and enjoy it; it'll make a great Buggy authorized or not...

It sure looks genuine to me. That's a B.F.Meyers & Co. rollbar too. I have to say, I've never seen the reinforcing tubes open at the front that way. They were usually closed off and you cut a hole through the top of the inner fender to get the wiring inside them. I'd close them off anyway to keep them from filling with dirt and water.

Yep, Me neither... There is obviously signs that there was sprialing wire within the tube structure indicating that it was a vacumn cleaner type tube that was used under the side as a mold for support (the plastic and wire are gone). The body was hand layed up cloth and kinda thin. There are indications on the back that there were support rods to hold the fenders (but those are gone). I still haven't heard from Mr. and Mrs. Manx for a conformation.... Perhaps they're out of town.

I just got word from Winnie.... "I would have to say that your buggy is one of the many copies. The tubes are not in keeping with the Meyers Manx tubes, which is the one thing that the copiers didn't seem to do." "Sorry! - Winnie" Thanks guys for your input. Awwww Maaan...What to do now?

Cry in your beer? Sorry to hear about that Pete. I say build it anyway if the body isn't too far gone. Might be a nice showcase for one of your A-Arms.

I like what you're sayin Tom...And you're right. I should use what I have as a tool. I've had an idea for some time now of how to construct a bolt on a-arm rear suspension kit for the early buggy. It might make a nice "How To" thread on this forum...or..."What the f#k is wrong with Ellobo..." Ya never know. pEdRo
