Hopefully it is okay if I name myself as event chair and Adam
and Vince as co-chairs and I was not sure if I should list Tom and Bob H
as official volunteers. I plan to update this first post as new
information is decided so we can locate it easily.

Vince and Adam, I don't know your last names or your email.

Thanks,

You can put us down as volunteers and attendees.  Great to see this coming together.  I doubt the Kick-Out will be done, but we will bring the Manxter.  I made Winnie aware of this event.  Tom

Cool thanks. I got the Meyers' contact info and will send an email inviting them in a day or so. Tom, your Manxster is street style right? Would you be willing to help Adam with the on road cruise?

Thanks,

I was originally thinking that for the pot luck the club would supply the protein and it would be burgers and dogs. ( Or dawgs as we say in the south. ) The main reason for this is so we don't end up with all deserts and no dinner or not enough food which I have seen happen at pot lucks far to many times. Now I am thinking instead or burgers and dogs that we should bring a little Baja flavor to the party. While the outer banks for NC are a long way from the Southwest, I am sure we can find a caterer that could fill that need. We would still do pot luck for the rest of the food to help keep costs down. Thoughts?

Do we think that taking most of the day Saturday for the cruises is to long? For the road cruise  I was thinking we could head out about 9 and get back around 5. This would be allow for the ferry ride to and from Ocracoke Island (about a half hour each way) and a couple hours for lunch/chilling on Ocracoke. If we feel this is to long, we can just go down to the Hatteras Lighthouse, find somewhere down there to eat and then be back by 2.

Oh and Louis, you have Vince and I swapped in the main post about who's doing on road and off road.

Also, how does the club handle sign ups for these events?  Should we start a roster in this thread?

I think we need to give people some down time on sat after noon so I think we should end the cruise around noon and the lunch by 1. That way peole can rest or site see on thier own. But there is no reason that you could not have an optional after lunch continuation of the cruise for those that want to keep going. That probably means the ferry is out as I think it is to far away. This first event will be a learnin exp in what works and what doesn't so let's not overload ourselves.

Thanks,

Too short a run and people will feel that they didn't get their money's worth. Too long and..... If you plan on being back by say 2, expect to actually get back by 3 or 4 after all the hiccups that could occur (late start, breakdowns, flat tires, blocked roads/trails etc).

I wish I could join you guys...the OBX is one of my favorite parts of the world, I came across it by chance while my wife and I were visiting a coleague of hers in Carolina Beach/Wilmington a few years ago.

Whenever I get a yearning to return I like to read Jimmy Buffett's travel log...

I hope you all have a blast and post plenty of photos and videos!!!

I'm keeping an eye on this thread as I spoke to Vince about it while visiting this past summer. I usually go between June and August with the whole family but I may need to change it up due to childrens school, wifes work, etc.

I think OBX would be the best place on the East Coast to really celebrate the Manx and I'll do eveything I can to help once I can commit.

From this summer....

David, you should come over and bring some more of those crazy UK buggy guys with you.

Hey Siggymanx33, hope you can make it. I actually borrowed a couple of your vid clips in the original discussion thread on this subject. Be cool to see the red buggy in person.

Thanks,

I am in Tallahassee, FL and visit FWB often. Let me know when you come and maybe we could meet up for a drink. The UK to SF is almost as bad as the one I do every year or two when I go visit my wife's family in the Philippines which is 28 hours total travel time. Let me get through the first event before we start talking of a second one.
