It is with great sadness we too must declare the Official Manx Club event, Manx on the Banx, officially cancelled. We had hoped that the gathering would remain as a bright spot for an otherwise disappointing season for so many of our fellow enthusiasts, but logistically without a Phase 3 declaration by North Carolina the insurances required to be an official event leaves us with no choice but to officially cancel it. HOWEVER... unofficially, the show will go on. Many members have houses pre-booked for the week and many others just want to drive their buggies on the OBX regardless of the events status. It is our intention to do everything possible to maintain the recommendations of the Phase 2 declaration by the state while providing a fun filled week for all the members that will be coming.
Due to the restrictions, we will not have the Awards Ceremony, silent auction or our Evening with Bruce and Winnie. However, you can expect that “Golden Shovel” awards will be given as warranted. Sadly, travel restriction will prevent Bruce and Winnie from making the “annual migration” that has been a major attraction for many members. They will be missed, but it is our hope to involve them periodically in the festivities as the week progresses.
Since we will be adjusting the schedule to accommodate any and all options, an official schedule of activities will not be finalized until sometime the week before the event. It will allow us the flexibility to make last minute changes and ensure the best potential for a unique experience. The tides for the week will be pretty good especially later in the week and will allow for some fun beach runs that have been a highlight of MOTB.
For the organizers and support staff, this years gathering will be more like what it feels like to have friends come to the OBX, have fun and go with the flow. As most have experienced over the many years of the event, the membership is what makes the gathering something truly special.
