salt water corrosion question
salt water corrosion question
I am planning a beach trip next week and was curious if anyone had used anything to prevent corrosion from salt air?? I thought about hosing down all the electrical and pollished aluminum with WD40 . Someone told me that would possibly trap moister and make it worse??? I brushed the exposed electrical conectors with liquid tape and plan to drill some drain ho's in the skid pan.

I think its just from the salt in the air. I got the buggy really wet last year but I dont think the fuse panel got wet. Since then I have had to clean the contacts and replace fuses almost constantly. I bought a modern enclosed fuse panel at the Bugout but I havent felt like cramping my way under the dash just yet.
I had a nice time at the beach. Bumped into a club member from Victorville at the coffee shop. The only sign of damage so far are brown spots on the ceramic coat on the header and one of the Empi light buckets that I have not replaced with the good ones yet. My friend in San Diego said to spray the header with clean water while it is hot, but I think he was joking. I will ask the coater if there is any hope. It has no fuse panel, just a bunch of circut breakers and they are pretty well protected.
