I've got a few questions for you guys. Any help or photos would be great. 1) I saw a photo on this site of a wiper motor mount made from glass and epoxy. I want to do this, but can't find the photo. Anyone know who this was? 2) My body was about all that was worth anything when I got it. And that was questionable in my wifes eyes. Sorry...getting off track here. When removing the old windshield from the hood and glassed on dash, I found 2 bolds on each side that were attached to a rusty bracket that went across in back of the dash. Looks like it was a mount of some kind for the steering shaft. I have seen photos of shafts like this on this site, and was wondering if this is something that I need to use. I was thinking of just doing a custom U-bold type mount direct to the underside of my dash, as the dash is a solid part of the hood. Any thoughts? 3) I understand that there is a trick to mount the windshield frame in a way that will not show the bolts or screws. Can someone share the info on this? 4) Should I mount my rollbar first, and match the windsheald angle to that? Thanks in advance for any help.

[/QUOTE] Ed, I don't know if this is the "trick" or not, but here is what I did. The back/interior side of my wind screen frame has a channel in it. I bought carriage bolts (domed top with a square under the head of the bolt) and inserted them into the holes of the body (from the outside and through the metal frame under the hood/dash). I then slid the wind screen over the heads of the bolts and into the channel of the wind screen. Once the wind screen was in place, I tightened the nuts on the bolts (from the inside of the tub). Since the square under the head of the bolt fit into the channel, the channel stopped the bolt head from turning during the tightening process. I have two bolts per side. Seems to work well for me. Hopefully all that makes sense. Good luck and welcome to the insanity of the buggy world. Bud

You shouldn't omit the steel bracket behind the dash. It supports the steering column, it gives the windshield secure points to mount, and it helps tie the hood and windshield to the body. The fiberglass in the Manx 2 is thinner and actually need the bracket more than the older Manxs. Many of the old clones just bolted the steering column and windshield to the fiberglass and I've seen them break in those areas. Bruce recommends first mounting the windshield along the seam between the dash and hood, and them mounting the rollbar parallel to the windshield.

I can answer your question on how to mount the windshield without the bolts showing. This is what i did. I'm really happy with the results. I took a couple of 3/8" studs and TIG welded them to a piece of flat stock. The flat stock slides into the channel of the frame and is totally invisible from the outside. Here are a couple of pics

Thanks guys! That was quick. Any one have a photo of the dash bracket? I would want to make one, but worry about it getting in the way of the wiper motor, switches and all that. Thanks again.

Thanks for the photo. Mine will have to attach a little different, as the dash is part of the hood. No worries, we can do that. Do you have a photo of the other side where the steering shaft attaches? Just wondering what your mount looks like. Any ideas on the wiper motor mount? Thank for all the great info!! Ed
