1962 Meyers Manx

Post by CairoManx »

There's a buggy being sold on ebay that is claimed to be a 1962 Meyers Manx: "One of 311 produced in 1962". Several of the pictures in the ad also show that much of the underside is covered with woven fiberglass fabric, not fiberglass mat. I think "Danger Will Robinson" alarms ought to start going off. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=330233837142&rd=1

 printing a page from the registry on ebay for the world to see, with names, phone numbers, addresses & vehicle details I reckon could piss some guys off  The Chevys look nice  Think I'll pass on the 62 Manx :2cents:

It's like the guy's taken what could be a genuine Manx and built a 'clone' Dune Buggy out of it. Hardly what I'd call a sympathetic restoration...

Sent him a note that he should take the registry pics out . Who the heck would want their addresses posted online like that? Thats a thiefs dream.

I sent an email to ebay too. They pulled the ad, but not until after the guy had sold it for $15K. It was really an average buggy. I'm not 100% sure it was genuine. I'm glad to see it got a good price anyway.

So if I get a lot of Meyers Manx decals and place then on every component of my buggy it would be a "real" Manx? Too bad no pic of the serial number plate.

Check out the close up of the windshield,,, what is that black rubber seal between the hood & frame? Part of it looks like a Bugshields windshield frame rubber seal and part of it looks like some kind of rubber sealing stuff out of a tube,,, not a very neat job for a so called show winner,,,,, looks to me like the fella put this on with his dick
