Does a windshield frame have a clear coat on it?

Post by cadman2005 »

I am trying to bring the windshield frame back to a presentable condition, but it seem to be very dull and I think there is a clear coat on it. I first tried to wet sand the frame but still there is a haze on it (different than a dullness from sanding) I read somewhere that you can use oven cleaner to strip the clear coating off (if there really is one) Will this work?, I tried on a small area but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I am sure most everyone restoring an old Dune Buggy has run into this. Can anyone give me some idea how to do this without damaging the frame
Thanks

If your glass is good, consider buying a new windshield frame from Dino.
