Just in case anyone hadn't seen it, the archives of everything from the pre-2001 Manx Club website are still on line. There's lots of good stuff on there. I love Dave Helland's articles.

I just re-read the articles Don Wilcox wrote in 1997 about how he and Ted Trevor won their class at Pike's Peak in 1966.
http://www.papafernandez.com/manxclub/wilcox1.html http://www.papafernandez.com/manxclub/wilcox2.html I noticed Don had a University of West Virginia email address. Google turned up that besides his success in racing, he's also a very distinguished university professor and band leader. How cool is that!

Great stuff, just seen my claim to fame pic that made front cover of Hot VW's,,, Gus the Bus & me at Manx's to Margaritaville 98
Lost my old copy of that mag
such a small snap shot though,, it could be anyone. Ol Gus amazed me how well it did off road,, a little too much overhang up front & a little underpowered maybe but it kept up with the pack

Don Wilcox said he got the Corvair engine that they put in the Pikes Peak Meyers Manx out of his wrecked Devin. It was a glass bodied sports car that was built in Costa Mesa near Bruce's shop. There's one on Craigslist(unwrecked).

I remember reading about the Pikes Peak Manx in Manx Mania
It sure pissed off some big (Cobra) players
Another Story I liked was the slalom thing they did in Road n Track 1966,, could be wrong on the mag & date,,, but I aint wrong on what came out on TOP
Manxdavid, Where did you get those wide wheels?? It looks sweet. Tony
I got them from someone who bought them at Pomona about ten years ago. They were EMPI centers machined down to fit wide steel rims. I had to 'un-weld' and re-weld them as they were hopelessly buckled... I got them to run straight after a lot of work but sold them eventually.
