Fuel gauge sender - hood removal
Posted: Wed Oct 06, 2021 2:44 am
Hi all,
I'm new here. Just purchased a used Manx and I can't wait to hit the road.
It has a few issues that I need to address before it's road worthy. I was hoping I might find some help as I'm a little bit of a beginner at working on these cars. I know just enough to get me into trouble.
First order of business is:
1) Fuel gauge (in the speedo) not working. Stuck on empty.
it's a combo speedo fuel gauge, I'll enclose a pic. Everything seems to be hooked up correctly and I'm dreading what I hope is not the issue. a bad Fuel sending unit in the tank.
Meaning... I'll have to take the hood off. I am dreading that route as It looks like such a daunting task to remove the hood. I believe this is a Manx 2 or possibly a knock off manx style body but I'm not sure. It does have all the tell tale signs of an original Manx. unfortunately, the back seat ID tag next to the battery is gone.
Looking for any trouble shooting help and possibly instructions on how to remove the hood and best replacement fuel sender I would need if indeed that is the issue. tank is currently about 1/2 full of gas.
Great to meet you all.
