Tell me about your carpeting...
I've decided I want to carpet my buggy. I looked into TJKustoms, but they don't make their carpeting for '73 and newer bugs. I want something bright green and I'm concerned about it getting rained on. So what solutions have others found here?
I bought some cheap indoor/outdoor carpet @ home Depot, less than $25, cut some to fit the tunnel and used carpet glue adhiesive to mount it. I then cut a template of the floor area on each side out of 1/4" plywood, glued the carpet to those and they can be removed for cleaning etc. Carpet alone, rumpled up and would'nt stay in place. Works great and keeps the noise down.

I also bought my carpeting from Home Depot, or Lowes, I cannot recall exactly. Anyway I got some relatively inexpensive carpet that had rubber backing. I also bought foam padding. pic of padding... pic of pan with carpeting... I'd rather have a higher quality product and thought of getting one of Tom's but this was a budget issue and I'm pleased with the results. It's held up OK so far but I can tell I'll need to get some floor mats to keep my heel from digging a hole.
I was trying to find marine grade carpeting so that It would not fade etc. Good Luck everybody wants $40= yard 8 - 12 feet wide. Then tack on "delivery charges" of 20-25 bucks. Anyway at the edge of frustration someone mentioned home depot. They carry inexpenisve "outdoor carpeting" and if you ask them they have a line of Marine Carpeting. it is some nice durable stuff. A little limited on colors (six or so). and you can get it by the foot. No minimum no shipping etc. it worked well for me. Formed well around corners. Home depot charged me $25 with tax for a 2' x12' piece. superduty adnesive $8. Carlton [img][IMG]http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h221/ ... If you look @ my original thread I posted some photos, but for some darn reason, no prints, so next time no photos, this site is not a user friendly site unless you know how to kiss something, cause other photos work but mine don't! work!

It almost looks like a mold.
