Big Bear Bash 2014
Mike, that's a great idea. Those who don't get their fill of dirt on Friday and split into impromptu groups and have at it. We can make this work.
Big Bear Bash 2014
Lee, Mike, Joseph and Kevin, thank you guys for understanding what we have to do this coming July. Like Mike said, if we have to, we will have small impromptu groups going out all day Saturday. Anything is do-able at this point, Im just waiting on what the forestry dept says.
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!

Hi Kevin,
Please understand that this info Im putting out right now is not set in stone and we still have plenty of time to make changes and organize 2 full days of off roading.
I am expecting a group of buggys from the east coast to arrive on Thursday and also I need to fit in a parade in honor of Bruce and a car show for the community. I know with your help, we can have two days of offroading if the forestry dept lets us. if not, we go out in little groups

Sounds good Bob and thank you for the hard work putting this all together! While I know that adding some dirt runs to the Big Bear run means more work, it will also mean more enjoyment for the members of the club who have grown to expect some dirt runs. Last year we had 25 'Buggies just on mine and Lee's run!
Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Big Bear is one of my favorite places and I'm up there a lot so if there's anything I can do to help, just let me know!

To his credit, Bob has been cautious committing as to the nature of the event because, up until recently, the USDA (who has oversight over the San Bernardino Forest) has not approved our permit.
HOWEVER, YES! Of course there will be dirt runs. We've talked to contacts at the San Bernardino Forestry Department, and got our applications for all four Big Bear off road runs into them before the January 1st deadline (for both Big Bear and Buellton, by the way). The need to file for permits is a recent development. The Forestry service is hard up for cash . . THEY searched the internet for events held in Big Bear and came to US letting us know that we had to have a permit on file by January 1st, 2014, or it would NOT be approved. We quickly did what they asked, and they have confirmed that they received our application and looked forward to working with us. The first time we came across this requirement was last year in Buellton. We learned during that event how to successfully work with the agencies involved, and now we're doing the same thing in Big Bear. Because of the sheer size of our events, there are a few requirements we have to get ironed out before every run. Trust us, we will abide by the regulations, comply with the Forest Service requirements, get the permits for multiple runs over all three days, and our runs will proceed unhindered. We had to turn in maps showing the trails we'd be on as part of the application for a permit.
The four routes we'll be leading are from previous runs we've done in the area (either in the order shown, or reversed, depending on trail conditions and number of buggies):

- Average run to the south of the lake, heading over Mill Creek Rd, down Clark's Summit to Seven Oaks, coming back around on 2N93 by Sugarloaf, Snow Summit and exiting near the town of Big Bear.
- Average run to the north of the lake starting near Fawnskin, heading west towards Big Pine, wrapping around through Holcomb Valley towards Cactus Flats and exiting near Baldwin Lake.
- Average run to the north of the lake, starting near Fawnskin, heading southeast towards Green Valley, over to Crab Flats, wrapping around Ironwood, Big Pine, Holcomb Valley, exiting the south side of Baldwin Lake.
- Extreme run to the southeast of the lake, starting near Baldwin Lake, up to Horse Thief Flats, around to John Bull Flat, down to Holcomb Valley, then back out by Baldwin Lake.

Thanks for all the info, guys! As with many other things, there are a ton of "behind the scenes" tasks most of us are unaware of. I appreciate everything all those involved are doing. Will the four runs outlined above be the only ones we can do because of the permit issue? Kevin and I have been discussing the possibility of leading another run (possibly one on Friday and another on Saturday), but if the four runs already have leaders and sweeps we won't need to do this. If this is the case, I am concerned about the size of each group, as I know this run will likely have the largest turnout of all time. How can we help?

Hi Lee, We had to file a map of the runs with the permitting process. However, sure we can use leaders! We may have two groups on each run, which would require eight leaders and eight sweeps. Plus, we can also talk to the Rangers about the possibility of including other runs. Right now, we're in the que for a permit, I'm sure they'll work with us as the event nears. Thank you for offering to lead, Lee (and to you too, Kevin). I'm sure we'll be relying on both of you.

It looks like there maybe 3 of the original Meyers Manx Monocoque in attendants at Big Bear this year.
Vincent has opened up the challenge to see how many Kick Outs (both TKO and SS) will be there. With all the Kick Outs kits that have sold hopefully more than 3 will be there.

FYI-
Yesterday, I tried to reserve a room online and received a message that the resort was full. I was almost ready to start looking elsewhere.
Today, I called the resort and was able to make a reservation.

Am leading another group of Aussies for this event this year and can't wait to reunite with all my C2C friends and meet plenty of new friends
And as i'mm the Towdster man , yet again i'll be cruising in yet another Towd ( the Blue one from C2C with a few changes ) , Aussie aussie aussie , and lets party like it's 1964 .
Hey Bob now there's an Idea , how about making the Sat night a themed night with the theme being "1964 "

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Meyers Manx!
Northwood’s Resort on Village Drive will be our host hotel with special group rates. The club has over 40 rooms blocked off waiting for you to call and reserve your rooms. Call 909-866-3121 Or reserve online @ www.Northwoodsresort.com Use the code GPMDP to receive the group rate.
For those bringing RVs, Holloways has been a club favorite, but Pine Knot and Serrano’s Forest Service Campgrounds are other options. There are many cabins for rent too. Look online @ WWW.BigBear.com to find your spot. Start making your reservations now! The club will have a location to drop off trailers for the weekend, but there is no overnight camping allowed.
The Big Bear Bash 2014 will begin Thursday with members checking in at the resort and signing up for an on or off road group for Friday.
Friday will have on and off road group runs and signups for Saturday off road only groups and members check in.
Saturday will start with an escorted parade around the lake back to the resort for a full blown Show and Shine and BBQ. For those who would rather get dirty instead of staying shiny, there will be more off road groups available after the parade.
A celebration spotlighting the 50th Anniversary of the Meyers Manx will be held at the resort Saturday evening with a dinner option available. The event concludes on Sunday with the awards ceremony and our raffle at the resort.
As you can see, this event will be a little different from years past. We will not be using Camp Tanda this time so plan accordingly. Any questions or would like to volunteer to make this event the biggest and best for Bruce please text or call Bob Hunter at 775-771-6428 or
