Club/Web Thread Analysis

Post by Don Giovanoni »

Hi everyone. The "What's up with this website?" Thread seems to have several basic topics: 1. Why is the traffic on this site so low now? 2. Are Winnie and Bruce not going to supply buggy merchandise (license plate frames, decals, etc.) any more? 3. Who is going to take control of the Club and how will they run it? My simple insights: 1. Intentions Good or bad, limiting most of the forums to Club members only have aggravated some previously active people to start/expand their own sites, splintering the FG buggy movement. Also it keeps new people away. I admit I was Ok with the members-only at first (about all I got for my annual dues) but did not anticipate the impact. 2. I haven't talked to Winnie for a while (although wanting to find out how they fared with the wild fires). I hope they keep up the supply of Manx merchandise and even expand it. If they are not going to pursue it I hope they license them to someone who will. If you are going for the nostolgic look (like me) the larger the Manx catalog the better! 3. Winnie has been asking for volunteers to take over the Club functions for more than a year. Has anyone stepped up? If I wasn't 1800 miles away I would love to be involved. If there is a new "Manx Mania" editor, I volunteer to cover the Midwest scene! Frankly, I would love to see the FG movement grow. We seem to be getting more ink in "Dune Buggies and Hot VWs" - they seem to be remembering the "Dune Buggies" part of the title and where they began. There is room for every income level - old buggies can be bought and fixed up for little bucks, and there are new buggies like the Manxter Dual Sport to move up to later. Comments from others?

this is an old thread in the DSB forum about Manx Club membership. Sounds like pretty much the same crowd. http://p068.ezboard.com/fdsbfrm2.showMessage?topicID=120.topic
