Shipping a Tow'd... Suggestions Anyone?

Post by Wazabug2 »

I live in Northern Illinois and just made a deal to purchase a Tow'd in northwestern Nevada. I was quoted $2287 from Reliable Auto Transport to ship it to me. OUCH!
Any club members have any suggestions??
Thanks
David

When I had each of our Tow'ds shipped, I looked up shippers in that State via Craigslist... I shipped from Kansas to NY and from Idaho to NY for a whole lot less than half of what you were quoted.

So long as it is a roller, it shouldn't be that expensive. You can also try meeting the shipper at their regional dock in your area and tow it back from there. That might help lower the cost a bit if they don't have to deliver it to a specific address.

If you don't mind open transport we had a Tow'd shipped from Reno to central NY state for $1000.
Hopefully whatever truck you get doesn't catch fire like ours....1147

Ours now fits into your "needs a little work" description!!

David
I had an ad posted for a month on U Ship, 2 offers worse than yours, so I gave up.
Through a buddy I used Shank Brothers from Vestal NY as brokers, none of their own trucks were scheduled near Reno. 5 days later they had lined up a carrier, Tow'd was loaded and on the way 2 days later (it did not run). When the trailer caught fire east of Chicago John Shank arranged another carrier to complete the delivery, price stayed the same. As far as I am concerned they used me right! Tell John I sent you please!
