One topic that came up at the Mammoth Board meeting with the members about the different runs
and how at the Manx events with the larger amount of members for the short runs, can take up to four times as long to complete due to breakdowns etc with a larger crowd. We had a discussion about having the smaller 6-12 buggy groups are which you can really makesome ground and see some good sights etc
I have been talking with Buggy Bob
about having some other runs or lets say posting them for different areas hosted by members which we have been doing a little here but mostly on other sites.Manx runs that are with no" Show n Shine" No Raffles and a pot luck dinner rather than a catered event.
Events not to replace existing events which we do quarterly but to add to the Manx event calendar.
So we are thinking of Quarterly main events and then other lets say" get on the road" events
smaller ones that cover some area, and learning events for some that want to try new new things
I for one will be placing my Clearlake run and maybe Mojave road on the Manx events calendar for next year
So looking for some feed back

Smaller fun Runs?
Sounds like a great idea. Following along with the East Coast thread post I was thinking about a Fall Foliage Run on the Blue Ridge Parkway next fall. Something low key over 2 or 3 days with some camping, good food and great cruising on the parkway with cool buggy people. The question is, would anyone be interested in going?
Thanks,

The idea of having smaller events inbetween major events is a great one. If you want the club members to be notified of these events, then we need to
1. get a date set in stone with location before December 2010. I have to post our new schedule for 2011 before January
2. local host needs to develope a schedule with information on hotels and/or camping and where the club will be meeting each day. and have the prerunning done before the event.
3. forward the schedule and all info to me so I can develope a flyer to mail out to ALL manx club members at least 3 weeks before the event.
4. determine a buggy fee. I think $10 might be enough but would have to check insurance cost and mailing cost.
5. have all entries mailed to me and I would create a master rooster which would be sent to the host along with insurance waivers.
6. have fun

Gene,
Both of those runs are excellent. I for one would like to leave the snow behind for some good buggy adventures in area's I've never been to.
PS. Some of us Burro Buggy's are doing the Mojave Rd. this week end. Maybe this time I'll finish both days...

Count me in! I think having a run someone could attend every month would be easily obtainable. After all, that's only 8 more runs then what we currently do. And, there are curently privately led runs like the ones Gene's referring to that cover Clear Lake, Mojave Road, Jawbone / Red Rock and Borrego. Lynn Breedlove and Doran were talking at Mammoth about a run they have done in Ventura County in the Santa Barbara / Carpenteria / Ojai area. And, once our friends south-of-the-border figure out how to police themselves, there's always Baja!
I'd be happy to set one up. Let me think about where, and I'll get back to Bob with a schedule and place. I'll be on the Mojave Road trip this weekend as well. We'll be covering a little over 100 miles of the 130 mile long trail. I'm experimenting again with HD video (last year was a dismal failure), so hopefully I can post some YouTube stuff featuring Mojave Road next week.
Good Idea Gene!

Smaller fun Runs?
From "day one", Bruce & Winnie "always" encouraged everyone in the Manx Club to get together "in their own areas" & have little runs/adventures. That's why a lot of the buggy "splinter groups" got started. No entry fees, no show 'n shine, just lots of trail riding, fellowship, a fantastic potluck & plain ol' FUN FUN FUN.
Some folks only like to attend "official" Manx Club runs, so they can enter the show 'n shine & buy raffle tickets & all the other goodies that accompany an "organized event".
Some folks like to just meet at a "pre-determined location" with "like-minded individuals" & make their own arrangements for the weekend. Though the runs/adventures are somewhat pre-planned, part of the FUN FUN FUN is the mystery of not knowing exactly where the trail will lead. No entry fees or liability waivers, just a get-together to enjoy an area & each other's company & let's not forget the awesome potlucks.
Whether it be a street type run/adventure, a on & off-road run/adventure, an all out rock climber run/adventure or any combination thereof, Manx club members &/or buggy folks from all over this great country we call home, should be having the most FUN FUN FUN that is possible with their fun little cars that, "thankfully", Bruce Meyers designed & manufactured & handed to the world.
We are blessed here in the West/Southwest USA, in that we have some of the most ideal weather & the best on & off-road areas to go play in. Runs/adventures don't have to be 2,3,4 or more days long in order to have the maximum amount of FUN FUN FUN. Sometimes the ones that are only hours or one day long can be the best.
So, everyone think about it, contact the local buggy folks in your area, step up & take the reins & officially or un-officially, organize, plan & execute a buggy run/adventure. You'll be glad you did.
