East Coast Event?

Post by louisb »

Okay Vince, your it for the off road run. I will be doing that one too so I can help herd cats during the run.

If we get 30 cars total to the event I will be impressed. Sounds like the First Colony Inn will be the perfect location for the Sat dinner. If my wife comes that is were we will probably stay anyways as her idea of camping is a Holiday Inn. We should find out if we can get a group discount for those attending the event.

What should we give to the winner of the logo contest? I am thinking a jacket from the Manx Store which I would be willing to buy.

I am still thinking about coming up, but it will depend on my leave time. We are also going out of country to visit my wife's family in December of '11 for three weeks and she will skin me if I screw that up. I figure I will need to come up on Thursday for our event and will drive back on Monday so I need to keep that in mind as well.

Would one of the Board Members be willing to contact Bruce and Winnie and see if they are interested in coming?

Lets go ahead and set the date for Oct 14 - 16 so we can get it in the next Manx Mania. Perhaps we can get the logo contest mentioned as well. We can set a deadline of March 1 for submissions so we have them in time to mail out notices. Does Madam Mania read the boards regularly or should I email her?

Tomorrow I am going to go back through all the posts and get a check list going of things that need to get done. This thread is getting rather long and since this now looks like a sure thing we need to get a little more organized.

Louis,

You should never rely on someone catching a message on the forum.

Not all members of either the Board of Directors or club members read the forum on a daily basis.  If you need a message
delivered then deliver it to the person yourself, it will be quicker and the recipient will know exactly what you are asking.

surfnc wrote:As for the road run it takes about an hour and a half to get from Nags Head to the ferry docks.  In the off season they run on the hour with a 30 car capacity and the trip to Ocracoke is about 40 minutes. Here is a link with more info:

Vince, there used to be a great little bar out on Ocracoke called Howard's Pub.  It was a regular hangout when I was in the Marines.  You know if it's still in operation? Do you think that would be a good place for lunch for the road run?

Howard's is still in business and open year round. (one of the few on Ocracoke that is) It would be a great place for lunch.

I am going to start a new thread specifically on the Manx on the Banx event and let this thread die off if that is okay with everyone.

Thanks,
