Sidewinder Exhaust help!!!
I've bought a Sidewinder exhaust from the Manxclub that's waiting for me in the US to collect when I'm over at the end of the month. Can anyone help me out with the measurements of the individual parts so I can work out how I'm going to pack it to carry it home? Also, what are the dimensions of the box it come in and what's the total weight? Ta guys!!!

Sidewinder Exhaust help
I received mine about a month ago and as I remember, the box was approx. 36" to 40" in length and maybe 16" by 16" and 30-40 lbs.I don't know how accurate this info is,hopefully someone can be more precise.Give Winnie a call,I think they use the same box that is used by their exhaust supplier.Note the earlier post about the lack of heat riser flanges on the 1 1/2",I had to send mine back for a replacement. If you are running dual carbs it shouldn't be a problem.Hope this is some help.

Thanks for that. I spoke to Winnie when I ordered it and made sure I got one with heat risers as I want to go back to a single carb., the Kadrons are killing my wallet!!! Do you know the dimensions of the biggest part (pressumably the bit with the muffler on) so I can tell if packing it as luggage will be feasible, Delta seem to be quite strict on sizes and weights. Maybe I should just try to stuff it all into a big golf bag...
If you dress in camo and tell them your name is Achmed I am sure they won't give you any trouble getting on the plane with a duffle bag full of metal tubes. They might take away your nail clippers though.
Don't even go there, I lost a perfectly good corkscrew at Atlanta airport that way after I'd landed!!! they must've thought I was going to slash the seats on the rental car with it Infidels!!!!

I tried to bring a spun alloy fuel tank back from San Diego in 98,,, it went off on the luggage conveyor OK,,,, then must have been X-rayed,,, i got called into a small room with four security/ police guys and was asked to open the package,,,,, i said to the guys '' you best stand clear,, this thing could go off '' they never saw the funny side :help: Sometimes i wish i could just keep my mouth shut
They just told me to remove the filler cap (which i had put on before packing it) so it wouldn't build up pressure,,, even though it had a clear outlet
Dave,, our ol buddy (buggy) Pete called in today to pick up your wheels,,, your get em tomorrow,,,,, we sat down over a coffee and both had a grumpy moan about the UK fuel prices,,,, at least he got that sunshing he asked for on here. I did about 150 miles in the buggy today (after Pete left) because England was playing (world cup) footbal the roads were MT,,, had em all to myself

Made it!!! Stuffed all the loose pipes and fittings in my bag, wrapped the main muffler/ collector bit in soiled t-shirts etc ans put it back in its original box. The two she-Nazis that inspected it at the Customs desk of Pensacola airport looked at it very suspiciously, asked what it was and looked most confused when I said it was a muffler for a Dune Buggy. Inspiration then struck and I showed them the photo of my car that I keep in my wallet where most guys keep a photo of the kids...'Oh gee, what a cute little car!!!' says one to the other, 'can't you bring it over here and take us for a ride...' They melted like it was a baby photo... Manxdavid-1 She-Nazis-0
