2007 Baja 1000 Parade of Champions

Post by steve heckert »

Here are a few pics from the Parade of Champions that took place prior to the start of the 2007 Baja 1000. This event was put on by Marty Fiolka and SCORE. We met at the Bull Ring in TJ and did a photo op and then drove the old race vehicles to Ensenada and displayed them in town at the SCORE vendor area. Parnelli Jones was there in the Big Oly Bronco, Walker Evens in one of his old race trucks, a old Vic Hickey race truck, Draino Millers single seat race buggy, the original Funco Wampus Kitty, Old Red, Richard Brown's #10 Manx and my Burro. It was a once in a life time event for me. We stayed at Horsepower Ranch for two days of events.

Is that the original #10 car? EDIT:#10 Meyers Manx replica, Richard Brown In late 1967, Vic Wilson and Ted Mangels captured the overall victory at the inaugural Mexican 1000 driving a highly modified Meyers Manx. While the current location of that historic VW-powered vehicle remains a mystery, in 2007 Richard Brown, of Slidell, Louisiana completed this highly authentic replica of the #10 Meyers Manx that Wilson and Mangels used to earn their place in the Baja 1000 record books. Great pictures, thanks for putting them up.....
