Stresses of New & the Manx Maina...Thanks
Stresses of New & the Manx Maina...Thanks
My wife agrees with Mel?s wife and I agree with all of them. The stress levels have not been fun? Friendships have been tested, and that?s not fun. Perhaps that adage of ?no pain no gain? plays in here? However at the end of the day the sun will shine and we?ll all be out there enjoying ourselves riding those high points and having fun. I find it Gratifying to have the added perspectives of our wives who always seem to provide their intuitive wisdom. *Sure it was simpler and more fun to just show up some place with a group of like minded friends and have fun? *Maybe that?s the way we should keep it ?light and unstressful?. *Or are we trying to sustain an enigma, that is recognized as mantra for fun, *or are we simply promoting a life style? In either case I think we?re doing a good thing.. Please keep in mind what has driven you and me to this point. And who will benefit most form our efforts. Bruce and Winnie started a great alliance that has grown in multitude of directions. I see the Manx Club and the Meyers Manx as the resin and the membership as the fibers that bond us together. We will all gain from our efforts, once the trials and tribulations in this formation process are complete. Until we get there, the Manx Club is still Bruce and Winnie?s This morning I had an opportunity to see the New Manx Mania. Oh My Gosh if there was a ?Pulitzer Prize for Best Buggy Publication? you deserve it. Anita & Bob, for pulling it together Nelson and Mel for whit and wisdom. The articles cover the neapolitan flavors of Buggy Life. Thanks to all !!! Mark & Carol Bryant

Anita and Bob Kornoff did the layout, made the decisions on the nicer paper and got it published and mailed on time(very close). We didn't get a calendar in this issue because there's only Big Bear scheduled at this time(Check out the flyer!). We'll have a column from Bruce and Winnie in the future but they are totally snowed under at this time with the new SWB buggy, traveling to shows and Meyers Manx Inc. We ran out of space for the normal business card size ads, but we'll have them back in the next issue, with the arrangement that we run them for free as long as Manx Club members get a 10% discount. Were working to get the newsletter posted on the webpage for members in color. We also want to post pictures we didn't have room for in the newsletter, but its all complicated right now by the Manx Club and Meyers Manx.com getting separate webpage accounts.

Good Job!
Got my Manx Mania yesterday and enjoyed the Burro stories. My most vivid memory of a Burro was an early Dune Buggies (The Fun Car Journal) cover. It showed a yellow Burro with an attractive model taking pictures from the bed of the buggy. Unfortunatly it is an issue I no longer have so I can't confirm that it was a Burro, but that is how I remember it. Again, a very professional newsletter. Congrats to all!
Don, That was a Burro, in fact that buggy is pictured in the newsletter. That Burro belonged to Gene Booth. He was the first editor of Dune Buggies Magazine. He also wrote the piece about Hawk Velzy that's in the newsletter. His buggy is the one in the picture on the second page, that's parked right in front of the open garage door. You can't tell, but its yellow. That picture is actually in color which you'll be able to see once we get the pdf version posted. That buggy was called the Baja Bullet. Its the same one Thompson and Choat got third in class in the 67 Baja 1000. After the race, Booth bought it, had it painted yellow and pin-striped and had a houndstooth convertible top made for it. I think he's the guy with the pork pie hat in the picture.
