My old Resorter came with a nice fuel cap that mounted flush to the body. It was chrome plated plastic with the grip to unscrew it that looked like Mercedes Logo (three raised spokes that meet in the middle) This is not the actual tank cap, but rather covers the hole above the tank. Anyway, I've seen a few different styles, but I was hoping to replace my original which was pilfered. Any idea(r)s Thanks!
Those are available from boat shops. It's a 4" Deck plate for a boat. The problem is, they don't make chrome ones anymore. And the grip to unscrew it, is now recessed.
I've seen the new sort which are about the same size (Usually black) I think bugpack sells them too. The threads and pattern of holes are not the same. It's frustrating, as I like the look of the old cap.... Thanks
Ive got a few of the black ones that are new still packaged you are more than welcome to one, could send it over to Gene's and you could pick it up there, will be seeing him a week from sat D&C
I got one of those myself...sadly it's not a good match with the car and the threads don't match the exiting female part on my Buggy, and the bolt pattern is not the same for mounting.... I may get a metal one...sigh. Thanks tho, very thoughtfull!
I've been looking for one of those old ones for years with no luck as i want to replace my black one with chrome. I think they came from the long defunct Johnies speed and chrome...
I have recently noticed that there are a few chrome shops advertising that they chrome plastic. I can only imagine the cost.
I've never had any plastic chromed (so this might not be a good comparison), I did have my old gas cap chromed. Cost me $55. Bud
