It's been a while.....

Post by Olli »

Hi guys!

Just popping in to say hello. I built Manxter #033 back in '06 and as far as I know Bruce has owned it for a few years now.

I am thinking of building another Manxter so I might have some questions with what has changed with the Manxter.

Anything new?

Welcome back Olli. For the members that don't know Manxter #33, I thought I could post a pic. The last time I saw it, Bruce was driving it.

Ollie - I don't think there is much different with the Manxter kit (other than a slightly higher price), but there are a lot of other changes. If you buy another Subaru engine from Outfront, it should have a cold start program in it now. John "stole" the program from our local tuner when he dyno tuned the car. Also, we would strongly recommend the Subigears transaxle. If you are thinking about the Mendeola suspension, contact me. I know if you build another one, it will be really nice. Tom

Hi Tom,

Actually, I am "thinking" about the Mendeola suspension. I'm not sure about going with the Subaru engine again though. I did read about the Subigears trans in a TurnKey Manx post. I am curious if there is an adapter that would mate the VW engine to the Subi trans.

Yes, amazingly, they are making a Subaru transaxle to aircooled VW adaptor. Most of the Subaru transaxles are hydraulic clutch and require a master cylinder in the tunnel and a cut in the back seat area of the body. Once you have the power, it is hard to give it up.

Do you still have any of your Factory 5 toys? Tom
