Underbody finishing

I'm getting close to painting my body shell. Anybody have any suggestions on what to coat the underside with. All the black is faded and there are a few patch spots. Hoping for something that will hold up well aginst the road dirt and gravel being thrown at it.

Just regular Krylon paint works well too. Cheap and easy to touch up.

I would second the bed-liner coating.
Just be certain the surface is very clean if you want it to adhere well.

There is also spray-on chassis undercoating that runs about $10.00 a can. Not quite as tough as the bed-liner products, but considering that the bottom of the chassis gets pretty scraped up on a routine basis (even the bed-liner products will eventually get scraped off), the spray-on undercoating is very cost effective.

For what it's worth, I used the rubberized undercoating and it works great. Went on easy, dried fast and has survived for a few years now.

my two cents. I went with bed liner on the interior. I love it. It feels good and it deadens the road noise and makes the floor "feel thicker". I also requested the company that applied the bed liner to apply it thick. On the bottom I was torn. Powder coating and bed liner would be great, but not really repairable (if you care). I would do a semi gloss paint with catalyst. It will hold up better than the single stage paints. I used the eastwood chassis black and it worked well with their Rust encapsulator primer. Hind sight I would use a two stage paint system. Costs more but lasts longer. One other thing is that the underbody paints that are not the "real" stuff will become brittle over time and flake/chip off . I found this out on my 69 bug when I undercoated it. I also heard a rumor that asphalt driveway sealer works well, but I was skeptical. Good luck
