FYI...c/o "modrod"...

Jim Chamberlain, of Oceanside California, has decided to re-open his buggy shop after about a 30 year hiatus. It will be an all service shop. from a ground up build, partial build, repair, restoration, etc.

For those unfamiliar with the name, Jim Chamberlain is a bit of a
renaissance man. He was at the epicenter of the dune buggy movement
back in the 60's. He worked alongside Bruce Meyers at B.F. Meyers &
Co. He built the Meyers Manx race car (#10) that won the 1st Baja 1000
back in 1967. He worked at Dean Jeffries Automotive Styling building
Kyote buggies. He worked at Sand Chariots, with Marion Ruggles,
building Ocelot's. He also worked with Jerry Eisert building Bugetta's,
He eventually started his own shop called "Orange County Custom
Buggies". He built many racecars there, including a modified Ocelot to
race in the 1968 Stardust 711. He was contracted to build the silver
flake Meyers Manx "staff car" for Dune Buggies magazine (hot vw's) in
the late 60's.

He has built all forms of fiberglass buggy race cars, from desert,
circle track, drag strip, hill climb, etc. He truly has done it all.
And done it successfully. He's been on every race track in southern
California and Mexico racing Manxes, Tow'ds, and even a split window bus
once. In the 70's he was a serious contender driving a VW powered rail
up Pikes Peak in Colorado. The list goes on.

For someone needing to get their buggy built or fixed, this is the guy.
He comes highly recommended by Bruce Meyers himself. In fact, a couple
of years back, a group of guys raced the, vintage only, Mexican 1000
historics down in Baja. The group consisted of a Meyers Manx, a Burro,
and a Jeffries Kyote. Jim was asked to be part of the chase team. He
didn't have to be asked twice, He scurried down south of the border and
was happy to be a part of it. He helped keep all three of the vintage
racers patched up and going again. All three cars were able to finish.
50% of the others cars didn't.

The Meyers Manx that won the first Baja 1000 was recently discovered
after being lost for over 30 years. It is scheduled to undergo a
sympathetic restoration at Jim's shop with some of the work being done
at the Meyers place as well . He was trusted to build it once, he can
certainly do it again.

His shop is "Dunrite motorsports", which shares the same name as his
racing team back in the day. please contact Jim himself for any of
your buggy needs.
