Manxter suppliers in Europe.?
Manxter suppliers in Europe.?
I know that Jacky Morrel (sp) has the rights to produce Meyers Manx and Manxter buggies in France. Does anyone have a web address for his company or does anyone know what his prices are like. Thanks Richie.
Jacky Morel [jackymorel@wanadoo.fr]
Hi Mark, we do not have website yet but you can go on manxclub.com to see more stuff. We are the European manufacturer of the Classic Meyers Manx and the new Manxter. We are manufacturing complete kits under Bruce Meyers licensing. Each body gets a metallic numbered plate which is laminated under the back seat. We also sell the new 4 seaters Manxter in kit form, made in Europe and we are able to import the off road version, the Dualsport, if necessary. The Classic Meyers Manx kit includes : - very nice handbuilt body (one week of labor !) with one piece hood and dashboard reworked so it fits perfectly in the body. It has a new feature which is removable boxes under the back seat. Laminated during the molding process is the authenfication plate with a serial number given by Bruce Meyers. - original hardtop with stainless hardware. - complete windshield with tinted glass. The frame and hood are already drilled and ready to be bolted together. - polished stainless steel roll bar. - rechromed original style Dietz headlights. - all the necessary brackets, stainless. - all the nuts and special bolts, stainless steel. - Manx logos (front and rear). - Rear license plate support in stainless steel. This Manx kit is priced at 3 600 euros without taxes, starting from Bordeaux. We can ship it or you can come to pick it up, we also have a dealer in Belgium where you can pick it up easily. For your infor mation, we also should have a dealer in GB very soon. Please, do not be fooled by cheap imitation of the Classic manx that is on british market. Quality is poor and any fees are going to Bruce Meyers which is not fair. The Manxter kit is really complete and fairly priced at 7 100 euros without taxes. The special launching price is 6 700 Euros without taxes. It is far more complicate to produce, having not less than 60 differents parts, no including nuts and bolts ! This explains the higher price. It comes with the special fiberglass back seats (uncovered), a full roll cage, including front and rear bumpers (stainless) and many differents brackets, and all the nuts and bolts, stainless. Optionals are the hardtop and its hardware and the side pods. The Manxter will bolt directly on a regular Beetle chassis, except 1302 and 1303, which save a lot of time in the building. For the classic Manx, we can shortened a pan for you. This is carefully done, swaping the old stamped chassis floors by two flat metal plates, same gauge as the main chassis center, includind a square tube all around receiving inserts so you can bolt directly the body with no nuts under the chassis. The result is that the chassis is really rigid and not soft. Price for that is upon request but usually it is around 1 800 euros. Let us know. Jacky Morel Do you have any online info on the classic manx kits. Ihear they are available in France. I don't speak French but I could probably figure it out.My quriousity is killing me. Thanks Mark

Not sure about that. Correct me on the conversion but I think thats about $4400.00? I know nothing about importing but let's just say a grand? Then to get it from the point of delivery to your home. Not to mention the conversion from right hand drive to left. (New Dash?) I think we can call it six to seven grand? When I was shopping for my Siggy kit a year ago, I found a few that were out there. The going rate was anywhere from $2500 to $4500. One or two people wanted upwards of 6k. A nos siggy kit sold for $2500 last Sept. I offered the guy 2k he accepted and a day later someone came in and gave him $2500. He got the kit. There was one for sale on here. #100 that the guy wanted a premiun for. It did come with a rolling pan, title, wheels, side pods and some other goodies. Not sure what it eventually sold for but I doubt what he was asking for it? CI think he was asking 8K? I bought mine last Sept, but again it was a package deal including a rolling Berrien chassis with all new brakes, an 1835 longblock, the entire kit (nuts, bolts, windshield, roll bar, steering column, extra tranny and trailing arms) and it was still cheaper than importing under your scenario. If Jackie could deliver one to my door for $2500, I'll have an orange metalflake with side pods. Or perhaps a custom one off color. Dave
OK, cool. I'd never heard the actual figures for what Siggys sell for. Everyone just told be "They are SO expensive" so I thought they were like 7K now or something. Not that I was looking to do it... just thinking out loud. I also didn't know they were RHD. I guess you be a big hit at the buggy show with a RHD Manx though!
Did "siggy" kits here come with the roof and all the stuff? or was it just a body? Sorry, I know nothing about Siggys. Mike manxter #9

The Siggy kits sold by Meyers in 1999 for a total cost of under 2K. I have the invoice from the original buyer and it could have been as low as $1500? The kit included the hardware, body, hood, windshield, roll bar, front bumper, headlights, body seals, directions and badges. Side pods, hardtop, special colors and delivery were extra.
I wonder if there are no more because they are sick of them, or that if they started making more it would tick off the people that bought into the "limited edition of 100"? I guess that would be like buying an "original" piece of art and then finding out everyone else can buy it too. I don't even need a short Buggy, but I'd buy one anyway just because they are dang cute. What is LHD or RHD about a Manx? I thought the guages were in the middle? Mike
