He's doing a phenominal job. Where's the seam on the pans? Great pictures. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=143816

How'd he do dat? I'm sure there was entirely to much work involved to get the seam to Disappear. It looks like it will be a show stopper when it's complete. Image Image

That's disgusting, danged over achievers. :o Looks like the shifter has been moved back also, good idea. Wish there were some more pictures of the body. Maybe he would like to go to Ocala forest with us. Bet not.

WOW!! The pan has a better finish than my body!!  Is it me or is that a bit of a body lift? Also there are bolts on the floor of the pan under the seat area which do not show under the car?

I thought I was a perfectionist. It almost make me want to rip my buggy back apart and start over...yeah right!! I dont think its a body lift but I DO think it was home made. My wife walked in as i was oooing and aawwwing. SHe said "whats that thing" I just said "honey its a thing of beauty" she roller her eyes and walked out. Said " I will leave you too alone then" LOL

The only problem with doing THAT NICE of a job is that you cry  the first day it's on the road and you hear the first in a long line of rocks hitting the bottom of the pan. It will never be that nice again. :laugh1:

I hate to be picky but he's gone to so much trouble with the pans and left the seam at the tunnel??? I can't really see the point of spending so much time and/or money on bits that are seldom seen; if it looks OK at 20 feet it'll do for me!!! Its a Dune Buggy after all, remember those inexpensive, easy and fun little kit-cars!!! Don't get too disheartened guys!!!

If it's not driven, it's not worth having.

Trick is to have 2 buggies.... One for SHOW & One for GO!!

I disagree. The trick is to have 2 buggys, 1 for show and go and the other one for show and go. I don't care how nice the car is, if you don't drive it, it's not worth having. If it's not driven to the shows, it's just a toy and shouldn't be in with the REAL buggys. You might as well build a Manx model and enter it in model car shows. You wouldn't have to tow it to the shows. I think you may have noticed, you hit a nerve.

There is nothing saying that he won't drive his car. His pan could be powdercoated???? I must say, I was very proud of my work on my car until I saw that masterpiece. Made me want to start all over!!!! Tominator, has to be and should be very proud of his craftmanship. It takes tons of talent to make a piece like that. I can't wait to see his finished car!!!
