Buggy ID?
Buggy ID?
I know you guys get this a lot, but it seems that your really good at it. I just got a buggy to restore but I cant figure out what it is. If anyone knows what it is or where I could see some pictures of another one like it please let me know. Any info would help. Thanks in advance.
The buggy is currently in the northeast corner of MS. Can you tell me what the wheel base is suppose to be? Also do you know what the actual name of the body is? And do you have any other info on this paticular body. It looks like you had it in pretty good condition hopefully it will see that again. Also what size motor did you have in the buggy. Any other info would help. Thanks.
It had a good running 1200. You should use a 80in wheelbase chassis. I dont know much about the body. There is guy named Robert Bailey that has one too. His website is here:bump on the hood site You should start a photobucket site to document the buildup. Did you look at all the pics in my album of this car???? MURZ
Yes, I saw all of the pics in your album. It looks like you had it fixed up nice at one time. I dont know what happened
. It also looks as if it lost a few parts along the way:windshield, floorpan, etc. We got the motor but it wasn't running or even on the buggy for that matter. The photobucket is a great idea I will see if I can get one started.
Yes the numbers are on the pan. We were just trying to figure out if the pan, well whats left of the pan, was the original or if it was something someone else had done. From the sound of things its the same pan and motor. The motor is not on the pan at this time so we dont know if it runs or not. We're going to try to get the motor running and put it back on to see if the transaxle is any good. How was the transaxle when you sold it? Is there anything else about this paticular buggy that you remember that might be helpful?
The motor ran great. I had just rebuilt the carb, ignition, and put an auto stick starter on it and a 12Vbattery----back in "02. I bought the car to fix up and then we had a child so I sold it. I had it for about six months and just basically drove it around the subdivision and empty lots. The pan was rigged with some plate steel under the shift coupler area(back by the nose cone of the trans area) and the shifter bushing holder needed to be rewelded. I drove it in first, second and third no problems, reverese was fine too. Had to shift with a crescent wrench because of the bushing holder. HEHE. The brakes were fine too----or at last they stopped the car fine. The car was 6 volt originally. The genereator, horn, and wiper motor are all six volt.
Here is how the motor looks now. We have got to get a new distributor cap, plug wires, and plugs before we can see if it wil run. So the transaxle is just a three speed? I hop it still works. We have purchased another buggy but when we started measuring it it is two inches shorter than the original. It did come with a good 1600 dp and a good 4 speed transaxle that is probably going to go in the buggy, unless we find something better
. We are still debating on what to do about the pan, the one we got with it was in pretty rough shape but we're keeping our options open.
The tranny is a four speed, just never got up that fast. The motor looks waaaay worse than when I had it. I had just put a new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, etc in that engine. The carb was cleaned and rebuilt and the fuel pump cleaned. Looks like ole Jason started the project and gave up. Too bad. Unless something bad has happened since then that motor should run like a top. Even the valves were adjusted. In fact I have some NOS 83mm jugs and pistons for that engine that will bring it up to a 1385 if you want them--125.00 plus shipping.

MOre pics in my album. Also in my album is another car just like it under purple one. MURZ
